Hallo thar.

I live in Seattle, Washington and I've been spinning poi for maybe a week and a half, which is unusual perseverance on my part for something that doesn't have to do with books (I bind books and read analytic philosophy obsessively). I'm gradually trying to pick up every technique that looks remotely comprehensible, and so far I'm coming along faster than I would have expected. (If there's one thing I'm not known for, it's my grace; I'm better known for knocking things over and breaking them at least once a day.)

I can also juggle up to three roughly spherical objects of equal weight, which impresses more people than it should.

I'm hoping I stick with this poi business, because it's a censored load of fun, though I have some reservations about being perceived as a dirty raver (no offense to my dirty raver friends). I would much rather be seen as a carnie.

Word,
-11

Favorite Music Artists/Composers: I don't even know how to start choosing. Godflesh is probably up there, though.

Do you think these pants make my butt look too big? Well, how big is "too big"? Not to other people, no.

Favorie ice cream flavor(s): Awesome. I like Awesome flavored ice cream.

Marmite, Vegemite, or Nutella? Godzilla, because he's a mothercensored lizard. Duh.

I really, REALLY, REALLY wish I had discovered this much earlier. I don't see too many people over 40 doing a lot of spinning, so it makes me wonder what my spinning lifespan is before my body is too lame to do the fun stuff anymore tongue2

I hope that the fact that I do spin will keep my body in shape until I'm old. The day that I can't spin anymore will be a sad one cry

Yeah not with my mom's family history of heart attacks, and my dad's family history of colon cancer. Of course, idk anyone on my dad's side that have or had it so idk where it's coming from? But on another note so many people on my dad's side live past 90 and some past 100. And hopefully spinning keeps me in shape when I'm old, I'd love to be an 80 year old great grandpa that spins fire with his shirt off wearing camo pants XD
Just imagine it and I dare you not to laugh

Haha those whippersnappers best stay off my lawn!!! old j/k In all seriousness though I can't see myself getting into spinning like I have when I was younger and I think the late 20s/early 30s are the most awesome time in life. Old enough to have sense, independence, and stability, but young enough to have tons of fun too cool

SoD- How is the generation that invented "representin'" too old to represent? laugh3

Woohoo! Also, on another note, I figured out how to make a flame bigger and last longer, well, how to make it not last not as long if that makes any sense. Don't leave your kerosene in the cold, it doesn't burn as long if you soak it while it is cold. Why? I do not know, but I tested it and got about a 6 minute burn on my cathedrals again instead of more like 4 minutes. As for bigger, I let the flame sit longer before I start swinging. grin

yup gettin close to the thirties now myself! i started when i was 23-ish

stretching and warming up have become more important the last couple of years but i definately think you can spin as long as you can stand, or hold the poi! im reminded of my 86 year old granny's crippled arthritic hands...

its definately good tho, the movement will help circulation and ive seen recently that a combo of mental activity and motor skills, playing music was the best according to this documentary - but equally juggly stuff i should think, may keep alzheimer's - type diseases at bay

Woot!

which my granny also has...keep spinning people, that [censored] aint fun!

on another note, awesome flavoured ice-cream is pretty good... but have you tried awesome + chocolate? grin
