have you tried just doing the weave motion behind your back with one hand at a time? after that just follow the same steps you used to learn the regular weave.

did you have a look at the links on this page?:

[Old link]

personally I find reverse easier than forwards, but I think that depends on you. Wrist flexibility is important, so do some stretches each time you spin: I find that helps

reverse is easier also try standing upright or sightly bent over backward coz i know that when i first started doing the BTB weave i kept bending foward and it just didn't work.
This is coz when you bend foward it pulls your shoulders foward and affects you upper mobility when doing behind the back moves but when you lean back you push your shoulders back and it just gives you a little bit more space to work with, it still took god knows how much practice tho

Don't beat yourself up coz they just take practice and patience both of which are needed in ample supply.

It took me about 3 months to get the trick and then another 2 to tidy it up but if you think the reverseBTB weave is difficult the wait untill you try the fowardBTB weave and just so you know i can only do a fwdBTBfigure8 but i think i should give up and try a rev5btBTB (as if the rev3btBTB wasn't difficult enough)

I have a follow-up question here:

I can do a simple 2-beat btb weave, which is (to me) simply a blind crossover. What wrist movements do I need to transition to the 3-bt btb weave?

Oh, and is it easier or more difficult to perform the btb butterfly weaves?

Hey, I picked the poi up yesterday and today I nailed a btb forward weave. biggrin

I had tried it in the past and just gave up!

I'm well chuffed. biggrin

I tried it one hand at a time at first, as advised above, until I stopped whacking my thighs and shins. Then I tried them together, having to do an odd little half-twist to get them round comfortably.

Embarrassingly though I still can't do a simple reverse weave.
My body keeps telling me to turn into a forward weave...

Oh well, maybe I should give up on that one too, then work it out later. wink

start with a foward weave and turn into a reverse BTB weave.

To clarify one poi goes striaght into the BTB with the turn but the other poi needs to go the long way round ( 1beat of reverse weave) and then into the BTB right at the end of the turn.

By the way your turn should take the same time as one beat.

Hope that was of help
