your in luck then, cause juggling isnt on this tuesday as it is rag week and there will be no free hall to juggle in.

i honestly havnt analyzed anybody, its really not what people do when theyr psychologists, its just a misconception. even my own aunt was afraid to talk to me at first, it was rather funny, and offensive at the same time.

i dont know if anybody has said it to you before but if you really wanna practice poi, your best way of practicing is using socks. just get a pair of over the knee socks or knee high socks from pennies or something and stick some rice in the bottom. to adjust the length just twist the end where the rice is and pull it through the sock and thhis will keep the rice in place and also make it shorter.

its different in every college, but ours is on this week. sorry for doubting your intuitiveness. they make life so much easier, and less painfull when you hit yourself in the head, as it seems has happened 4times so far to you.

so are you into learning other juggling type things or are you dedicating yourself to poi?

Yeah, I haven't been hit in the head recently, but i hit myself in the arm and remained bruiseless! mwahaha! *hits self in head while in kitchen speaking to her mom* ....better change that number frown

hmm, at the moment I'm concentrating on poi, but I'd love to learn as much as I can! I used to have juggling balls....If only I could find them, but I'd love to learn to do pretty much everything! Hoops, Unicycle, different types of juggling, you name it, I'll try it!

im pretty much the same, i spent last summer learning everything that i could, im not good at most things but am able to do a few things in most things if ya get me. i can get you started or find someone to get you started on most things, and then you can work off that till you become a master and end up teaching me when im fat and old.

hoop seems to be the big thing lately for the female jugglers, almost all of my female juglger friends took it up over the summer, its a bit wierd, but then again it is a cool thing to learn.

what got you into poi by the way?

Sounds good! ^_^ Anyone who's good at dodging things flying in all directions should have no trouble teaching me biggrin

I know it was only about a month or so ago....but I don't really remember, I think i happened to find someone about it on the internet and though "well that sounds awesome!" I then realised my cousins friends "fire spinning" was actually poi. Though he doesn't spin fire poi anymore cos of an accident as far as I know.

But I read up about it, and saw how much fun people had with all these tricks and stuff, and figured; hey, I wanna do that too!

So I bought myself some poi, and the poi spinning book and started at the begining (my planes are all over the place but I still have such fun spinning! even if I only know the basic-basics). Now the weather is kinda crappy though, so I don't get much practice between weather and study. And my mom doesn't like me spinning poi in the kitchen, even if I have got my new sock ones ^_^

How about you? what got you into poi and everything else??

i was in my friends back garden and he had just bought himself a set of fire poi and i asked for a go and i got hooked. ive been at it ever since. it was funny cause my third time doing poi was busking on grafton street, and my first time ever doing poi was on fire. its a good way to learn cause you dont screw up incase you get burned.

what happened to your cousins friend? you should bring your poi to school cause you can practice at break times and all that stuff. youl learn quite quickly that way!!

Wow your first time was on fire?? O_O brave you

did you ear much on grafton street the thrid time?

My cousins friends story is in the "real life" section of this site, his name is Paul I think. I've never seen him spin, only heard about it...but as far as i can remember i saw him balance a BMX on his chin lol. Thats if it is the right person I'm thinking of! ubblol

i know his story, he was doing a show and caught fire and some imbosile threw a drink at him hoping it would put him out and it flared up and he got third degree burns all over his chest. he is a friend of the guys i started off with, but ive never met him.

it was cool, the first time we ever busked we took in 160 euro if memory serves. it was great, and a good incentive to keep going at it.

over the summer i busk pretty much every day, so if your feeling up to it when the summer comes around your welcome to join our troop, its great fun, not great money (although it can be depending on numbers) but its great fun.

im sure by the summer, as long as you have the confidence youll be well up to performing, all it takes is a bit of confidence and a small amount of craziness.

thats cool about oxygen, it should be good fun. im gonna try and get a job at it performing, which i should really get on to as soon as possible.

what tricks are you at present trying to learn?

ah right, how are you finding the planes? if you just do reels infront of you for ages till you have them as straight as possible with both hands together then using each hand seperately bring them over your head. eventualy youl get comfortable with doing this and then you can put both hands together and youl have it.

my side planes are a hell of alot straighter than when I started. My left hand is learning its much more fun to behave ubblol my wall planes are.....okay. Infront of me is getting better, it's spinning behind that needs a lil extra work. I also like spinning inwards circles better, so I have to focus on spining outwards a bit more ^_^''

just keep working at it and youl get it. it just takes a bit of time, but you seem to be on the right track. 7 times in the head now, how many of those was with the socks?

im glad you left hand is learning to behave, i had to disciplin mine to the point where i only had one singular piece of thread left holdin it in place, but now it listens to me and takes orders.

its really hard to practice behind the head planes seperately, so i think you just have to keep using tricks that plane till you get used to it. tiresome i know, but its worth it in the end.

3 of those hits was with the socks, the other four were a mixture of side on colisions and uppercuts thanks to my cobra tailed poi (it kinda hurt, I'm trying not to hit myself tho! I need most of my braincells for the LC!)

I brought my poi to school today, and during lunch I got many: "what are they?" style questions. On the way to the bus stop while practising a lil (mainly my left hands planes) my friend why was walking with me, witnessed me do a butterfly, of course I was thrilled with myself as I managed to do it sucessfully. However she made the big mistake in saying "That's easy! I could do that!!" I handed over my poi, and she started to batter herself with them! ubblol Is it evil that I wished they were my tailed poi that she hit herself with?
She spent the rest of day saying that my sock poi were a waste of socks (she loves socks) and basically putting me and my poi down. It annoyed me a lil I admit, but I felt also that she couldn't really put me and my poi down, I love my sock poi ^_^
biggrin Rant Over

if you want her to look at the poi in a different manner just bring her some pictures of poi and a video or two, her opinion will change. if she says poi is crap and easy then she deserves to get hit by them, it is the way of life, toy with something volotile and itl explode on you. karma as some people call it.

wait till you get a bit better and then people will come and watch you doing it during the break times, its funny, cause to other people into it its just normal.

dont worry about the brain cells, or the leaving cert, all you gotta do is relax and youl be grand. and sure brain cells are only memory, so you can get more of those.

Karma is sweet when its on my side. biggrin personally I don't think she's the type to be ever really interested in poi. I don't think she sees the point to poi really.

people watching me during lunchtime eh? sounds like fun! tis what I'll aim for! lol before the year is out I shall aquire a spectator!! lol

thats a good goal. itl also get you used to performing infront of people with it, it comes easy to some but some people have a natural inability to perform.

so is it the art of poi or the performing that you like about it? or more that you would like to get into?

im sure it will, and once you see that people have utter admiration for you for even getting up let alone actualy entertaining then.

poi is so relaxing, once you get flowing between your tricks you can just put on some music and just let everything flow out through motion. like dance only much cooler and less excertion of energy. all the juggling arts are incredibly relaxing, its amazing, its impossible not to have your mind at ease as your doing it.

also a very cool thing to get into, very graceful when you do contact staff, im not a huge fan of non contact staff as its limited compared to poi. well when your doing one staff, but doing two looks great (done well). i dont find it as relaxing to learn, cause you gotta pick it up every time you drop it.

just get yourself a good old broom handle and try it out and see if you like it.
