I've looked into renting a RV...

But it's around $2000 eek
plus $300 if you don't bring it back clean! ubblol

Which I suppose is only £1000

With four people would be £250

for 10 days..

Isn't bad I guess.. Kinda like having you own hotel room at burning man.. biggrin

And the Yanks know how to build RVs!

Hm..

Well I should be going to this anyhoo... biggrin

Faith, I used to have social anxiety stuff too, and Burning Man was a big factor in my getting over them. (and some therapy too) But seriously, this event got me out of my shell of inhibitions and self-doubt in a big way.

I'm just sayin'.

Alas, I am taking a break from the playa this year. I have it in my head to go to the EJC instead...

You will be sorely missed on the playa _khan_. I'm green with envy for anyone who gets to go to EJC, especially in Athens! Burn one for the Man over there devil .

Speaking of social anxiety, I'm a pretty big introvert as well but like khan says, the burn can change you in ways you might not expect.

Not sure if I can make it this year... after missing BM06, my wife and I said that we would definitely go this year, but we don't even know what country we'll be in at that time, and we've squandered all of our holiday time already.

Don't worry... you won't be able to smell anything because your nose will be full of playa dust. smile Besides, this isn't the @#$! Rainbow Gathering, it's BurningMan.

It turns out I'm not going to EJC. My friends have successfully lobbied me to join their conclave group and theme camp, so I am going to Burning Man after all. I'm bummed that 2uberOz is happening at the same time though, because I thought that would be fun also. I want to meet all you uber-event goers!

The irony is that though I said I wanted to have a low-key year if I go, I'm not only doing conclave but organizing the main public activity for our theme camp! Low-key...heh...yeah right... ubbloco

Hey Faberge:

I only just now saw your post! My camp is Salon Soleil. Don't know where we will be placed yet, but we will be listed in the What Where When book; our healing fair is on Wednesday and Thursday and our fire opera will be performed Thursday night at Spike's Inferno (the stage connected to Spike's Vampire Bar).

Hi All this will be year number 8 for me and it will also be the first time that I do not perform in the great circle. I have kind of taken the summer off of fire this year to ponder etc. I look forward to seeing all of you again this year in center camp so we can share skills and just chat it up. I will be camping with Jub Jub but we don't know the placement yet. It's a big year for fire performers, there are so many events going on it'll be hard to see them all.

See you guys soon and safe travels!

I just bought my ticket to Burning Man.

My only concern is all the crap I'm getting about Burning Man being a drug fest. I don't do drugs and I'm feeling a little anxious now. I'm not straight-edge, I just don't like them. I hope someone else can relate, and is looking for a different experience than just getting wasted in the desert.

But once again, I've never been. So I hope this isn't the case and I'm just worrying about nothing.

Yes, the media tends to dictate common opinion about the event but in reality there is about as much drug use going on there as you would see at a concert. I don't do anything other than alcohol and I have no problems. The nice thing about the event is that you can do just about anything but you do not have to do anything. I have experienced no pressure to do drugs out there. You may be offered, but not pressured. In fact I would encourage those who "Partake" to try keeping straight at the event. The experience is so amazing, you'll want to remember it. Do your stuff when your at home to go back to burningman else you'll miss out.

But don't stress out about the "drug fest" opinion, there is so much more to the event that that and you'll have a great time however you choose to have it. smile

No but seriously, there are a large group of people who have told me not to get too far gone at Burning Man, cause when you are exploring altered states of consciousness, you might forget to explore Burning Man!
I hear the natural high is so much better than any drug induced one, I'll be sure to stay sober a day or maybe 2 wink
I can't wait for the Man! In 11 days we have our art installation packed up, all 15,000 lbs of it bounce2 ubbloco
It can't come here soon enough!
