ok i was flicking around the web, and i found 2 videos that actually shocked me (yeah only two, but not for the reasons you think) they are both perfectly safe, just scary, ok the first They Sold Their Souls For Rock And Roll is misquoting hundreds of popular musicians from the beatles to madonna, marylin manson to AC\DC and beyond, saying that they all worship satan and are trying to corrupt the youth of the world.

The second He-Man and the Occult just blew me away, He-man...and the Occult...ITS A CARTOON!! and if you listen to their arguements 1) when they look at the beginning "i have the power" etc think evangelical TV

See, you can make things look how you want them by putting an idea in someones head before they watch it.

2) they say that He-Man is a false idol, and about castle greyskull etc, they they go on to talk about skeletor and how atanic he is, forgetting to mention that he is the bad guy, which to me seems highly relevent.

I just wanted to see your reactions to this. It makes me wonder if people produce these things because they want people to hear their views, or because they are playing on people sence of wanting to be more christian and a "better person" saying if you dont agree, you're wrong and evil and are going to hell to make money

Simon, how dare you speak blasphemy of our almighty Lord, He-Man. He is not just a cartoon, my friend but ruler of the world.

It is he who protects us from the evil of Skeletor and the castle of GreySkull!

Seriously, people who think that rock music and cartoons are evil either have a few screws loose, live in the deep south of america or have too much time on their hands IMHO.

Yeah, i'm a christian and i go around listening to rock and watching cartoons. If you listen to the words carefully, some of them are even singing about christianity.

Please tell me if i was just speaking a load of censored, because i probably misunderstood the whole thing.

But yes, it is a bit daft - though it's not a new idea saying rock and roll is anti-christian. To fundamentalists it is...

My friend Marf is really into her heavy rock, ACDC, Slipknot, Metallica etc. Her mum is a nutty (but lovely, Christian).

when we were at college, Marf would tell us how her mum would bury marf's heavy rock dvds and cds in the garden!

I remember when we went to see Incubus, and Marf's mum was so upset, she said "Incubus!?! how horrific!"

A little on the same theme, when I was with an ex, he and his brother went to a marilyn manson gig. his mum said to me, "don't worry Jo, I put some plasters in their pockets."
I said "why did you do that?!"

She replied, "well, he makes the audience cut themselves doesn't he!"

I remember when I was little mosher I always made a point to be polite and courteous to the so-called 'decent folk'.

Gives them nothing to complain to be about - no fuel for their burning-at-the-stake-fires. Freaked them out a lot more than delinquency... devil biggrin

I am a religious person and I am a christian. I feel a bit weird saying that I am a christian because of crazy stuff like this, fundamentalists, and the fact that some use their faith as an excuse for irrational behaviour. I listen to heavy rock music, and I too think that the persuasive way in which people tell us that innocent things are evil is a bit deranged and sick. I believe that something is evil if you believe it is, it is your own mind that gives it power. I think that it is not heman who is the evil one, but the person telling you he is evil is infact some sort of spawn of satan.

Saying that, My mom bought me a Marilyn Manson CD when I was 16 as I was really into him then. She also bought me a new bible...just incase ubblol

I thought the same thing! lol

Anway, fundamentalists will find issues with whatever they choose to. Red Riding Hood was banned because she carried wine in the basket to granny. Disney has been a huge target for so many various reasons it's laughable. Hell, Pat Boone, the easy listening crooner who normally has a huge christian following, came under fire for donning leather and fake tattoos at an awards show a few years ago.

*shrug*

People, not just americans and not just fundamentalists, will see what they want, and twist things the way they want.

The fundamentalists are usually just more ignorant and therefore more humorous about it.

BTW...my sister's family is one of these fundamentalists (born again pentacostal evangelist). I walked into her house one day to smell the most *vile* smell. She was melting "non-christian, evil" cd's...one of which was the Eric Clapton cd I had given her for christmas..the one with "Tears in Heaven" on it. I was pissed then. Now I just let her be stupid.

You know, when I was about 6 or 7 I remember my mum telling me we weren't allowed to watch Heman due to satanic influences..

Then they banned the telly altogether.

Mind you, they have a.. well... interesting worldview...
