help

I have a NW-HD5 Sony Walkman MP3 player and I love it. Yes it uses Sonicstage which people tend to hate but I so far haven't had any problems with it. Problem is I have tunes on it that I downloaded whilst I was away and so have no back up of them. I'm worried that if my MP3 player dies (its been swimming so there's a distinct possibility of this) then I'll lose my music. frown I can't transfer them to my computer here as it says they were downloaded from another computer. Is there anything I can do? I know there's a program for Itunes that allows you to copy stuff from your Ipod to a computer and wondered if anyone knew of anything similar for Sony.

Cheers! ubbrollsmile

Too late to say this now but

[Old link] tongue

The thread was initially about iPod problems but has since evolved into a utilitarian MP3 player thread.

I used to have a Sony HD NW3 and loved it until it had a date with a slamming car door. With that i couldn't be arsed ripping to MP3 as I didn't have aproblem that did it at the time. I just ripped via Sonic stage to ATRAC. When that died I moved onto Creative Zen. My advice - find yourself a good MP3 ripping programme and take the time to transfer the files. They shouldn't really need converting to ATRAC. So if you were to, like me, break it and upgrade to a non ATRAC player the songs will still be there in the future...

i had this problem ages ago.

I ended up playing the music into a smapler in a sense re-ripping the tune. That way you can copy it straight back from your own machine - only way round it i found.

Unless unlike mine yours actually stores the music as an mp3 file not a omg file. omg can only be read by sonicstage..... if it is mp3 then just copy thm off using a file mananger.

I have a sony 60gig vaio - the most uncompatable mp3 on the market ubblol - however its full so i dont mind biggrin

Sonicstage is crap! biggrin

Sorry Neon - did look at that thread but since it didn't answer my question.... Am new to HoP so didn't know I should post a completely new question on a related thread.

Anyhow a ripping program? Am very untech minded. What does that mean exactly? So will that enable me to get my tunes from my MP3 to my computer? My files are omg and whilst I can copy them to my computer they then won't play - something about licenses...

Anyhow its not a huge deal. My Sony still works at the mo just wondered how to safeguard for the future.. Cheers anyhow!
