www.ishkur.com/features/music/ is a fun site that is not to be taken seriously, but it completely over-micro-divides music into eeety beeety genres (some of which are occupied by only a single artist).

Yeah. Um. This post is sort-of on-topic, anyways...

Anyways, I like trance. But especially anthem, progressive, Ibiza, hard, dream, dark, and tech.

I am really agaisnt excesive division of music into sub genres. It's my biggest complaint with electronic music.

I think it's pretentious and intellectually handicapping.

A friend of mine tried to convince me that it was necessary to categorise in order to describe the music and explain the style (big surprise, he is an accountant)

I don't agree, there is a lot more ways of describing sound that can capture it more effectively than the name of a category. It is really just a convenience.

I do find the extreme versions of catergorisation excessive amusing though

I was just about to agree that dividing music into 550 genres or so is quite annoying and then realized that my favorite type is tech industrial.

And to really annoy the people who don't care to enjoy "electronic music". There is the house family of dance music. Deep House, Hard House, Tribal house, progressive house and tech house.

Wierd music genre: R'n'B. Since when did it change from rythym and blues to the bizarre identikit crap that people call R'n'B these days?
