Well there i was at the docs (my usual 3 month visit) to discuss more varied treatment for my spine (it doesnt like me) and after staring at each other for the first 10min she said theres nothing more we can do...the spines too weak and thin that a surgen wont operate plus theyl not know wherehe risk would be too high, then she said that as iv been on pain killers since i was 11 (when i broke the spine im now 22) she wants to start to ween me off them (which in a way thats good for my kidneys ect there are days i cant get outta bed without them) then the physio isnt working at all, neither is the faucet injections or the acupuncture and to top it all of there was talk of a wheelchair in the next 10 years if they cant find something to help it.. i dont like self pity but when i got home i was so angry at myself for getting my hopes up that something might actully be done about it.. but then to top it off the ocupational thearipst came round to talk about making my mums home more "back friendly".............i felt like saying just stick me in a chair now and be done with it.

my mum thinks i should give up circus but why should i its my job and i think its helped the mobility in my back, pluse its one of the only times im really happy. I had to give up ballet and ju jit su and loads of other things growing up cos of this stupidthing im not giving up my job too........................

im sorry about complaining i just need to get that outta my head before it explodes (thats all i need a nice exploding head).....Ahhhhhhh no wonde im single way too much baggage going on.

No no, complain away! It's always helpful to get this stuff off your chest and just "blow" for a while. No point bottling it up.

Plus you have a good excuse to complain! Life just isn't fair at times is it?

Try and remain positive. You never know what is going to happen in medicine in 10 years. Look how far we've come in the past 10 years!! PLUS you know what some doctors time scales are!!

true i was thinking that that advances in laser eye treatment you never know i might get a new spine and a pedicure all at the same time.....

i just think here is the only place i can complain cause my mum blames herself (even though it was me that fell off the horse and was back on it 11months later as soon as i was outta the chair)

i know theres always someone worse off, even if they dont come up with a cure at least i did learn to walk again (learnt to wwalk 4 times in my life im a master now) and i still have time to walk more (or take the bus depending on the weather) which is alot more than some.

its just hard sometimes cos alotta people think i fake it cos i do circus and stuff but that cant be farther from the truth

I work with a lot of people with back injuries(As a massage therapist) and I think the ones who do best are those, who like you push the limits a bit and do what they can even if they suffer for it later.
It stinks that people look at them doing an activity and assume that they fake the claims of pain, when they are just trying to overcome it and lead as normal as possible life.
In the end. noone can see or feel your pain. but they often fee quite justified in eroneously making inferences from your activity level.

Ahh tainted hug, maybie if you have done everything thats avaliable or your running out of options maybie its time to really come to terms with whats happend. Ten years while not entirly a long long time is plenty enough to have (at least ide think) you can do alot in ten years before you need to start using a chair. OF course you dont want to give up completly on hope and im not saying that but a wheel chair isnt the end of your life completly, it just means life will become slightly different from then on but its certainly livable. Life in general for wheel chair users has come on alot allmost everywhere now caters for wheelchair accses and just think how things will get in ten years, even the wheelchairs in the horrizon will be better designd, lighter, more manouverable ect.

Get as much out of your legs and complete mobilaty while you can and have [censored] loads of fun ubbloco
