TICKETS UPDATE 11th April 2006

==============================

TICKETS ARE NOW ONSALE!! bounce You can follow this link to the online Shop to make your purchase. If you buy a ticket with the forthcoming DVD you will get a £3 discount. Please note that the price of £25 will only be valid until the 13th June

Finally, we have a venue for play biggrin

Thanks for being so patient, the location for PLAY is now confirmed as being at Fordhall Farm, Market Drayton, Shropshire. TF9 3PS

The gates will be open from 10am Thursday 22nd June until 6pm Monday 26th June (yes that's FIVE days biggrin ) and will cost the princely sum of £25 in advance and £30 from two weeks prior to the festival. The tickets will be on sale from Sunday 2nd April right up until the event. The ticket price covers all facilities and events once onsite (bar, food & drink etc excluded of course) all workshops, the show(s), the childrens creche area etc etc etc

A beautiful organic farm set in the countryside (although 5 minutes from the town of Market Drayton) that will make for the most wonderful setting for this years (and hopefully many more) PLAY Festival.

(Please visit the Fordhall Farm website, they need to raise £600,000 by July 2006 to stop this beautiful fertile place from becoming yet another industrial development, if you can help their cause please do so hug )

It has great links to the M6 motorway via the A53 and for non car users we will post all info about the local transport situation asap. There isn't a train station that's particularly close but we will be laying on a PLAY Bus to make collections to/from the station as often as possible to help everyone out. There may be a very small charge for this (ie a quid or two) to cover the cost of the driver etc.

I will keep this post updated and of course keep your eyes on the PLAY Website and forum for the most up to date information.

If you could keep your questions in the PLAY Forum we'd much appreciate it as it will help us keep some control and ensure we answer as many as possible. It'll save Malcolms badwidth a little too.....

Hope to see you all there!

Yukamo I don't need a picture. I made all the hats sold on the hyperloop stall. I can make you a grey pixie one if you want one. Just tell me if you want braided tails on the tip or not and if you want it to fade from dark grey at the point down to light greay/white or the other way around. Each hat is slightly different due to them being hand made and coming from different dye batches of the yarn.

Ya big dobber!! *humph* You just couldn't keep it to yourself could you Strugnell, there you go trying to make yourself look less bad! At least I only crashed MY van not someone elses!!! tongue

Ok, so, imagine the scene. Tuesday morning I pick up a reasonably fresh all white alright van for lugging stuff at play. One week later it returns with a gaping hole in one side, a bent wheel, a burst tyre, a broken rear valance, a smashed rear lense and a chip off another peice of dodgy fibre glass. Oh and it smelt of the deisel that got spilt when we fetched some for the genny ubbangel

If I go self employed full time, one thing I won't do is van rentals....even folks like me who try their best to keep it tip top and drive it very well still manage to f*ck things up ubblol

I know a fair few people who'd disagree there.

To be honest, only two things annoyed me over the weekend:
- the music in the evenings
- the lack of anywhere to just sit, chat and play after the shows

They're both quite related I think.

But there's no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

I have to disagree. Louise (the girl that clubbed mech in the staff game) did well at getting a rather crazy ammount of injuries. Admittedly she didn't crash into a pub but...

Could somebody stop the room please... I'd like to get off

confused

i managed to find places to sit, chat and play once it got dark bov - there was:

the campsite
the area just outside the big top (which was almost as lovely and warm as inside the big top)
the firespinning area
and the campfire (which had the added bonus of mags' sultry tones and tipsychutters, the blues vocal specialist biggrin)

I think Bov means big communal sheltered places.

At the last PLAY the big top was quiet after about midnight, and loads of people would sit and chill in there...

yep, but last year was very different:
a whole bunch of the bands that came played to an empty room and we weren't *allowed* to make any noise after midnight even if we had wanted to (remember the 'renegade'?)

i get it that bov didn't like the music playing in the big top and that there was only one big top.
but damn, there were lots of places to 'sit, talk and play' after the shows.

granted, the lit, sheltered space had music in but it just so happened to be the only place that could possibly cater for those who wanted to listen to music (because it had the sound system and generators).

i liked the fact that there was music on late into the night - i think the main activities we do at play (spinning and manipulation) are far more closely connected to music than the core juggling arts that multitudes of other conventions cater for.

i had never been to a convention where we could recreate the 'spinning in a club' vibe but with the added opportuinity to spin with lots of space and loads of other wicked spinners to discuss what we've discovered - its a great environment as far as i'm concerned.

there was more than plenty of time to sit, talk and play during the daylight hours, no?

i guess if i was going to suggest a
possible improvement for next year, a larger roster of dj's with a more eclectic selection of music would be nice - even premixed cd's submitted for that very purpose could work.
and a setlist including the dj's/mixcds so we know what music to expect during the evening smile

but i wouldn't go as far to say that anything annoyed me shrug
