pretty at all for 6 months! I can see you've got some style starting to emerge! Some of those hyperloops are looking pretty sweet, and I like the ideas in terms of patterns. I also like the jump around 5:10! smile

crits: timing, uneven footwork occasionally, nothing that won't come with more practise smile

Keep working at it dude!

I liked the fact that it was one long uncut piece.. Don't get me wrong, I don't think there was enough content for 6 minutes, but one thing that I did get to see is the many different ways that you could make some of the pieces flow together. That made is worth while, since I got a clearer picture of your control and thoughts about how some things go together.. This was further accented by the fact that you were -into- it more in some places than others.. like the times that would flow versus the times that you were trying to think through things as they happened..

I don't remember whihc of your earlier vids i have, but you've improved a lot from it.. I may have to cycle through your vids, so I have a better idea..

how often do you spin at that length? like poi length.. because a here and there, it seemed like the poi were a little bit too long for what you were trying to do.. so it would give out, or not swing cleanly.. like wrapping and it not bouncing back right, because you have the center of mass off.. I run into this a lot myself.. I made some new poi, and they put the mass about 2 inches off from where it used to be, and the poi were just falling out the air on me all over the place..

I agree with lazyangel in that I liked the jump.. that was one of the most fluid sections too.. again, I think that was one of the times when you were more comofortable, and eased through it, than some of the other places where it felt like I was watching you think through..

One other thing that you did do pretty solid through most of the vid, is you kept things moving.. I saw a lot of repetition, but I didnt see back to back repetition.. and keeping htings moving like that is a really good trait to have this early on..

peace bro, look forward to the next one..

I'm liking that new video, Suiboom, you've been putting in the time and effort and it shows smile

You were all over the place, and I mean that in a good way. Spinning to your right, to your left, going high, going low, constantly turning, to me that's putting on a good show.Plus..it was unedited, but I like my videos that way, gimme raw footage.

Your flowers are looking good and I assume you have the shoulder issues under control, and I like the giant windmill->flowers transition, why didn't I think of that?

Nice try on the spiral wraps, those are great...when they work, which in my case is less often than I care to admit. but your first one almost did come off properly, maybe it's got something to do with the angle of the poi going "off" slightly during your turn.

The jump rocked!!! as did the fact that you have stalls going with both hands, and not to mention that utl turn.

Keep them coming

Thanks all. I sincerely appreciate the critiques. This was actually a warmup spin for what would have been something more solid, possibly with fire. But, as keeps on happening these days, I just ran outta time and couldn't do what I wanted. So, I pulled the vid to archive so I could get a clearer picture of some things, mistakes included. I've definitely got stuff to work on, and the comments help me focus that smile. When I actually watched the vids I had in succession, I saw some strong tendencies that really needed breaking.

My next step is to capture a solid, clean and full run.

Step after that, hopefully around the year mark, to have a vid of a solid performance. That's definitely gonna be a journey for me.

Peace, and much appreciation.

I really liked the jump also. Definitely a keeper. I agree with Cole that it was at a more fluid section of the spin, but at the same time it seemed like you were holding back a little...? I was wishing it was a higher or more exaggerated jump. I also like the casual way you toss in the airwrap/hyperloops.

Looking good for six months, that's for sure. Thanks for sharing!

I'm workin on it.. I need to get my body back into shape enough to get the jumps higher and more effective. Also, the steeltoe boots didn't help much. I wanna get me some tabi boots or something similar smile.

Hi there! I was really impressed with the level of skill and flow you show at such an early stage spinning! So many of you guys are learning so fast, I must be in the remedial school of poi or something! ;-)

I think you have a lot of different moves really quite well, and you are working on interesting flowing dancing transitions. The moments where you really move freely are my favorites, but that wouldn't surprise anyone.... I would suggest for next time, pick a really evocative piece of music that is shorter, like say three minutes, and give it your all, no censoring your movements... It would have a bit more bang in terms of presentation. There were some fabulous hints of flow in the one I saw, So I am excitied to think of what may come of that!

yeah, the airwraps and hyperloops are nice, the way they just happen... can you do short poi taps/wraps? That would be a fun way to introduce a dynamic change. I can't do them really well yet, but it is a lot of fun trying. ( watch anyone with nunchucks to see what I mean...)
Anyways,
Nice vid!

smiles, Andrea

New vid posted, my first with fire! It was just a quick, single spin to satisfy the curiousity of some friends. Kinda repetative as my brain didn't want to relax into the flow, but it contains some wraptaps at the suggestion of Andrealee, and also got my spiral wrap to work smile.

Hopefully I'll get some better footage tomorrow (maybe with special guest star, pounce smile).

Here ya go, enjoy:

Trying to get it to download, but not sure how. My computer shows me a broken quicktime symbol. Is there some way to just download it and use the DVX player? I tried the right click and save bit, didnt work.... Suggestions? I have got to get his video player thing sorted, it is making me insane.

Any computer savvy folk want to come for a visit and fix this thing? !

It's a flash video, so no video player is necessary (or will work), just requires Flash Player 8 (through browser).

If you can't get it to work, let me know and I'll post the .wmv version of it to a temporary location, or if you can use google video or youtube, maybe I should set up an account up with one..

Well, the better footage option kinda crapped out due to wet weather.. ahwell. I don't have the option for getting a decent sized version of the footage at this point, due to lack of firewire card and severe lack of HD space. But, I did put the .wmv version up for d/l. It's still only 320x240, but it's there for perusal. Thanks for all the comments and suggestions, they are much appreciated.

Awesome job man! For the amount of time you've been spinning this is pretty nice.

Have you started working on doing any reels at all or just wall plane spinning in general? I think if you split the poi apart a lil more often it would make your spins more interesting Other then that keep up the great work.

Hey all.. new vid posted from my trip back to Albuquerque, NM. Small very cool crew there.. This is just a couple of my spins, but I'll get everyone else online as I finish the vids. Waist wrap attempts, flowy type of spin.. got fun fire contact in there too (as in contact with the fire, not contact styled spinning).

Downloadable WMV link available upon request. Sorry Andrealee.. I used the same creation method as my last vid, so you might not be able to see this one either frown. I'll send ya the wmv link if you want, and will try and find a conversion utility if you still can't see them.

Peace all,

I redid the music so it is now license friendly. I don't like it as much as the original, but I think it still works.. any crits on the new song addition (or anything else even)?
