Hello folks,

Have been meaning to have a go at poi for a while now but my terrible lack of co-ordination has held me back. Anyway, yesterday dawned bright and sunny and I took myself off and bought me some poi biggrin Despite the fact that I have narrowly missed at least 20 black eyes, my arms are killing me and most areas of my body have taken on a bluish-purple tinge, I am absolutely loving it!

After getting strange looks from small children in the fields behind me I decided to practice indoors, which had a major advantage for me - music- seems to help me keep my rhythm and flow. ( I guess I should have thought of that from the start!) So have now just about got the hang of forward and backward parallel swings, butterfly and weave and a kind of flailing round my head that I don't think has a term but it felt good wink The major disadvantge of being indoors is space obviously , so a few of my pictures are a bit worse for wear oh, and having a cat that thinks poi are the best invention since wind-up mice and was in danger of developing 'cat poi' many times!

So am going to take my mp3 out with me today, to get the music to help me outside. I only wish this work thing didn't get in the way of my practice but , hey ho, have a week off coming up soon biggrin

Also ( apologies if this is not the place to put this), I can see that after a while it is going to get very lonely and limiting on my own and it would be great to know if there are any fellow poiers around West Yorkshire smile

Anyway, it feels great to have found HOP biggrin

Hello! welcome to HoP... please don't feed the Noddy wink

Screw poi, go get a staff!

The existance of flamethrowers says that someone, somewhere, at sometime said "I need to set that thing on fire, but it's too far away."

My state of mind is not yours to define!

Don't pay any attention to FRD, he doesn't know what he's talking about wink

You can always do what I do, the headphone wire goes inside the shirt. And when you need to take them off to talk to someone, they stay nice and handy biggrin.
