well im new here
bought some flag poi before xmas from the site and a dvd and still not got round to learning as i live in a flat and no garden and i have a son so cant go out with friends and pratice
so thought id join up say hi and see if any tips, tried to join and found out i had done ages ago
oh well here now
any hints on how i can learn indoors withoput hitting my ceiling

Hints on how to learn indoors ... Goodluck! How about if you make your son a set of traditional poi and take him along? But then I guess that really depends on how old said son is.

Practicing indoors always leads to breakages! I've lost count of how many light bulbs i've smashed! Flags aren't really the best to learn with. Start off with some bean bags/juggling balls in the ends of long socks. You can wrap them around your hands a bit so they aren't so long - saves hitting the ceiling!

jus didnt know if there was any indoor style things but i was looking at the led sock pois as they look fab and yer i got bought the flag poi's by my ex as he is into diablo and i happened to say id love to have a go at poi and well it started from there.
will have to now find some bean bags lol
oh said son is nearly 3 and thinks its great to run through the flag pois when im at me mums having a go

you can normally get away with using sock poi inside (although you might have to kneel down to do over the head stuff :P)
so tell us some more about yourself? what do you do? what other hobbies do you have?

erm well im a mum as ive said
not long moved to london area so net is my contact to friends and making friends atm
i love clubbing, attempting to make my own tunes, danicng and well as my mate said im a total nut job so there ya go
i also make furry boots and skirts and customize my own clothes i hate following a trend and have my own style.
and i help out on 2 web sites adding up and coming events to calender and recruiting new members and currently seeking a job

Since you sew make some smaller flags maybe....or go to the park and play with the bigger ones while your son runs around like crazy in the park buring off all that excess energy.
Make him a set of flags too, otherwise he will always want yours.
Socks or cone poi are the best though. Easy to shorten. Eay to make.

Hi Dani,
I've broken lampscreens with both staff and poi inside my appartment. Spinning inside is really only a good idea if you have short/small toys and already have enough control.
I second the idea of using parks or other community areas (preferably with some green in it
)But then you are more dependant on the weather

i found inside easier also cos i have the dvd but i have a short term memory problem where i watch the move but then wen i go down the lake i forget
