well i never normally watch it but i decided to this year. luckily i missed all the songs so i jus watched the voting smile i had such a laugh! terry wogan has a new place in my heart. some of the things he was coming out with were quite amusing ... complaining how long the voting was going on for, commenting on the predictability of voting and generally taking the piss out of the whole contest with his sly digs.

what got me thinking was the fact that all the competitors take is so seriously. do the europeans really think that this is good music? and do any of them/you take it as a totally serious competition?

i know that its pretty much a joke in the uk. even if we did win it (which is never gonna happen) the artist would maybe get a bit of admiration but would fall very quickly into the pit of musical nothingness. ok it was different int he old days when bucks fizz (???) won it but its changed

why is it that the biggest countries also being the largest contributors came last (uk, spain, germany, france)? do you not like us or was our song really that bad? tongue i dont see why we cant get a decent act together

i think its more of a political contest now. germany dont vote for us (uk), we dont vote for them. we vote for the countries we like to go on holiday (turkey greece spain), and they vote for us.
anyway ill be watching all the fun and games next year ...

Ooh I knew it, just so half of you dont run the risk of looking 'un-cool' you say you only watch it for Terri Wogan lol ubblol. Ide say it was 50% polotics, 30 stage theatrics (especialy this year and 20% talent.

Yeah the baltic countrys all vote for each other, but you have to remember 30 years ago when Europe was mainly western countrys, western songs won because that was the audiance. Now that Europe has more eastern Europian countrys if you want half decent points you have to give the eastern europian countrys a style they like, acoustic guitars are out (sorry Ireland), belly dancing is in (lucky turkey eh)

Which was the second to last one? The slightly matcho woman with the tatoo's, woof wouldnt wanna piss her off after a few drinks. I really liked that song tho, I hope that one wins

Er...ok.

Finland are gonna win. And I too am on the edge of my seat. I have a vested interest too, as I actually text-voted for them. ubblol

It's true though, that without Wogan (who's quite pissed this year, you can hear it) it wouldn't be worth watching, but hopefully someone with the same dry wit will get the gig when Tel pops his clogs. Maybe Jimmy Carr?

Nah, Wogan never does the vote, cos he's the in-studio commentator. He's in Greece, drinking Ouzo.

Well done for Lordi!! I dont know whether the majority of the votes came from people who were just like what the hell lets vote for them. But for anyone interested go here and click on the 'see lordi talking to the press video' and watch the short 6 mins interview after they won, its an excellent press interview and it really lets you into what the guys are about, and the main singer is a very interesting guy, watch it smile

That was soooo fun biggrin

Unfortunately commentators on French TV were real fools and they did not respect neither the music itself nor the choice of the European audience. They first said they would never win (missed biggrin) then they were whining each time Finland got 12 points. They couldn't stop telling bullshit, that was indecent... they even didn't stop chatting when Lordi replayed the song, telling people in the audience did not like it, explaining that 2 thirds of Finland was above the Arctic circle, blablabla... a good lesson of intolerance and narrowness of mind.

I say Go team Lordi...

I want to see more cheezy metal on Eurovision.. Maybe this is opening a new door as far as the competition is concerned and some good stuff will get on..

But then we'd lose the cheesy charm which makes it so special...
