Hey hun!!

Look in Oli's video thread, and look for sending signals to spaceships. It'll be a few pages in, unless Oli decides to do some editing to his original post.

Anyway, In that Vid, Fluffy Napalm Fairy does some waistwraps with fire, but it's ok cos you can still see what she's doing-ish.

I think that's right, but I dunno as I don't have access to the vid at the mo...

There is a LOT of butterfly waistwrap-age in Strange Things Happen.

The link is [Old link] it's in the first post...........

It's mostly variations though - 3.18-3.24 is quite clear.

On the fire vid, there's a nice variation at 1 minute, and some clear butterfly waistwraps from 1.23-1.30. They are all done in reverse because I find it a lot more fluid. smile

I will have a look through some other videos to see if I can find some clearer examples for you smile

Whilst your waist wraps are gorgeous, Fairy, you go in and out of it so fast it's a bit hard to see how you actually do it! biggrin It'd be nice to see a vid where someone just does nothing but a butterfly waistwrap for a while, so it's clear how it works, much like someone did a while back for behind-the-back waistwraps.

*Shakes fist* Daaamn you and your learning! biggrin I'll figure it out soon enough, I'm sure. It is quite clear in the fire vid but it's just not working for me. I'll hassle people to teach me next time I'm out, I guess smile

i woul dbe happy if i even understand the defenition of it. and first the term "waistwrap".... and what differ the waistwrap from a full waistwrap. or the BTB waistwrap? :O

have i misunderstood something if i say that a BTB waeve in wall plane with 180 turn and back, without moving feet is a kind of waistwrap. (tradgic description... but it sounded so nice in my head when i thought of it in that way frown )

ok.. i'll check wikipoidia and see if i understand something...

cheers

disc - you almost gottit, but the thing that characterises a waistwrap is the 'carry'. This results in missing beats from your two joined wallplane btb weaves!

there should be plenty of threads about with a good description if you do a search smile

I found this thread again:

[Old link]

Look for Orbit's post down the thread a bit with 2 links in - 2 versions of the btb waistwrap tutorial vid, which was so very very helpful in helping me work out what it was. Hope it helps you!

OK people - I made a vid tonight.

It shows a simple butterfly waistwrap (with a complete cycle in slow motion).
A turning butterfly waistwrap (in both directions).
A turning butterfly waistwrap variation (in both directions).

It should be uploaded tomorrow night if someone tells me where to put it?

I hope this isn't too late smile

Ros,

I hope you don't mind, I've put it on my server space (Thanks Heath!) so that your bandwidth won't be overloaded.

I've actually struggled for ages trying to learn butterfly waistwrap... and now I realize I was doing loads of things wrong. Still not sure I have the flexibility, but I'm working on it. I've effectively been cheating and doing what I suppose might be a wrap-around waist-level mexican wave (but only on the left side - right side's been a struggle)... being able to watch the hand positions totally helps.

thanks Ros!

cheers mucho orvit - I've taken down the other link so nick doesn't get cross! biggrin

I am not certain if the hand position is the best/right but it seems to work. While you are learning there are a few thing that will make it easier:

1) Learn with one hand first
(this will do 3 beats in total, one in front, one behind, and one all the way round in front again, then back to the start without an extra beat added.
2) The hand that is not doing this pattern should continue to spin in front of you and wait for the other hand to join it.
3) Reach Up. The closer your hand is to your bra strap (boys go borrow a bra and you'll understand.....) the more space there is to move. Do not be tempted to drop your 'reaching' hand down by your hip as this will make it harder to learn.
4) I find this easiest from a Reverse butterfly (as in the vid) and athough this is a personal opinion, most people seem to agree

happy waistwrapping smile

i do 2 & 3 slightly different but i reckon if i want to say how, i should put myself out and make a video first, and since that is very unlikely, i will say nothing wink

number 3 and 4 are sterling pieces of advice and should help tonnes.
