ok, so this is my first posting in here..

LHP: left hand poi. RHP: right hand poi. BTB: behind the back. smile

start off in forward butterfly with lefthand lower (or you can come into this from Thread The Needle, just have your starting hand as the lower of the two (as you can of course start this move from the opposite of the way i explain it.. wink )

LHP BTB left hip, RHP remains in butterfly position.
LHP BTB left shldr, RHP BTB left hip.

LHP BTB right shldr, RHP BTB right hip.
LHP BTB right hip, RHP BTB right shldr.

LHP BTB left hip, RHP BTB left shldr.
LHP BTB left shldr, RHP BTB left hip.

so all the moves are in synchronised time (although i've been playing with split-time in this, too, but understandably you'd want to get synch-time first...) and are behind the back, apart from when you're transitioing in front of your body, moving from one side to the other (from left to right or vice-versa), and when that is happening, say from right to left, the RH is level with your shoulders, and your LH is level with your hips. so when you're transitioning from left to right, your LH is, of course, level with your shoulders, and your RH is level with your hips...

if taken with high-exposure shutter time, i think it'd look like one big circle with four small circles within its circumference, arranged to look like a square. but i dont have that kinda equipment, so... ... sorry ...

so.. thats it... smile

hope it was ok. (this post, that is..). um.

peace

some call it a flower and yours sounds kind of very "systematic". Try all variations, not only 4 corners.

Sounds more like a BTB variation on a 3-point reel to me - the ones where you spin a standard reel and then do an extra circle at your shoulders.

Normal reel is a figure of 8 by your hip

This is that figure of 8 with an extra circle behind your shoulder.

I read through this description several times, couldn't quite get the sequence...then I dreamt it last night. It was so clean, I woke up totally stoked. This is not the first time I've dreamt of poi, but first time for a specific hop thread. I'm a tad frightened. But now off to try it!

ummm. well, I can do something, but I don't think it's this. Because in my dream, the circles were very even and not crossing in front. I think I was cheating. Even in my dream I knew my btb stuff is not very good. In RL, I can't get the poi coordinated so as not to tangle while transitioning. frown But I haven't given up. I'm going to go back to sleep and dream it better. rolleyes
