The only problem that I can see with that is the fact that you MUST have public liability insurance, and bring proof, otherwise you cant spin.

This is going to stop one hell of a lot of really really tallented perfomers in Kent from entering. I know I personally dont have £140 (thats how much I was quote about 30 seconds ago with Country Mutual) lying around for me to spend on it.

umm

Do jugglers (non fire props) need the insurance as well even if they are simply throwing bean bags around?

and can you enter with Aerotech equipment....
Fire Juggling I hear you say wink

apart form that, it looks quite well organised I belive, with a good saftey plan.

smile

I may just go and watch seeing as it down the road....

Thanks for your reply. You've brought up a very good point and we've given the issue around insurance a lot of thought. Unfortunatly we cannot see a way around holding an event with fire without individual liability insurance. No insurance company is willing to insure the event as a whole (we have tried).

With regard to spinning / juggling without fire - this is a fire only event. But, anyone is welcome to come down and show off, outside of the competition. The venue has a large garden and during competition breaks any additional entertainment is welcomed.

"competition" Like, who's got the biggest or brightest wicks wink ubblol Sounds like a laugh, I like your idea of entertainment being the criteria for winning and not the spinning itself.

On another note, to get insurance policies rushed through I only live around the corner from Country Mutual and the policies can be collected same day and I can then post them instead of waiting for three weeks for them to post them out. If anyone needs me to do this pm me and I'll be happy to. smile

Let's relight this forum ubblove

I spoke to a woman at Country Mutual who had the sexiest voice I have heard in a long time.

"But, anyone is welcome to come down and show off"

I might put up an entry for this, unless I'm putting up anything paid or have any other commitments develop before, depends mainly on what it's going to cost getting there and back from hampshire,

In regard to Insurance policies, a friend of mine got his in the post the following day from Country Mutual. They seem to be pretty efficient!

Also - If anyone needs accommodation for the night - The Three Mariners have said that we are welcome to camp in their garden. That should cut down on costs. To apply - no money is needed up front, so if you do have to pull out - you won't loose anything! Except maybe a prize! juggle

Spinning competition ?? hmm, strange concept, the thing i enjoy most about the spinning/juggling scene is the lack of competitiveness between people ... sorry just my 2 pence ..

hope it goes well anyway!

Yes.

But its a good way to get some money if you are poor and kick ass at spinning.

ubblol @ jon

'competitions' are quite common elsewhere - entertainment as opposed to skill based - I think it's excellent smile Not sure why there aren't more about here? Encourages choreography, costume, muscis etc for complete performances.

Very different from 'hobby' spinning though psi - but not a bad thing at all imo smile

Hi there guys - Its Mat here AKA The Pyro... co-organiser of Fire Factory. Good news – its now FREE to enter clap as we’ve been sponsored by Shepherd Neame Master Brewers!!! beerchug See the website for important updates: https://www.thepyro.co.uk/fire_factory.htm

[NX?] - Paid work and a lush location, alright for some, but as for show us all how its done... pprrrrffff!

Psi - There's nothing wrong with a little competition, it brings out the best in people - plus you’ll learn loads more, as everyone will be laying it all down, all their big tricks, all their style...

fluffy napalm fairy - For a fairy, you've got balls!!

Unattractive Cranky Old Freud - Public liability is steep, but so's a law suit... Looking forwards to seeing what you can do though, with your non-fire props.

If anyone has not yet put an entry in for this comp, be quick as places are limited!!
bye

Well then

I have insurance, mmm hmm yes I do.

You have a club juggling section.

I have fire clubs.

Maybe I should enter, I am often in the Canterbury area of the world.

It would force me to make up a routine as well.

Hmmm

I shall check my dates biggrin

woohooo, sounds lush, shame i haven't got any insurance... :-( guess i'll just have to bring my globalls as usual,

UCOF, come down man, and bring the canterbury spinning posse, The fire displays down at the three mariners are always a good laugh,

Moohaahaa, please bring down your fire clubs, i ain't seen you juggle since the boom festival, ye is lush at jugglinging

My two cents, its gonna be lush,
Mat, you need everyone to have WWF (WWE even) styley intro music for when they walk down ito the ring, and have lots of bad mouthing:-) t'would make me chuckle

Juggling isn't useless, It just isn't useful.
