if you have broken your nose?

Last week I clonked myself on the side of my nose with an aerotech and swear I felt and heard a crack. It did not bleed, but its still hurting. To save wasting the doctors time thaught I might see if anyone else has done this and recoverd without any bandages etc. Im sure it will heal, although im not a doctor wink

Cheers

I broke my nose (well, I had it broken for me, but thats a different story) a few years ago, I went to see a neighbour who had just qualified as a paramedic to see what he said, and was told it was probably not broken.

After 3 further hours of bleeding and swelling, I went to casualty and got it checked, sure enough, it was broken!

I recovered with no bandages or anything like that, just a bag of frozen peas that my mum took great pleasure in pressing against my nose to "teach me a lesson about getting into fights", naywho, I'm sure it should heal fine, mine has (and you can only notice it's not straight if I try to wear eye-jacket style sunglasses)

mine was pretty bad. It swelled up so much that both my eyes were shut for 2 days! so by the sounds of it you should be fine!

Hey Jem!
Pain is meant to tell you something. If it continues to hurt... get it looked at. If only to ease your mind.

.....ewwwwwww..... maybe stop poking it. Yet again I agree with Patrick. Its like teeth. Perfect teeth are very pretty but they have no character.

I had my nose broken in a moshpit. My boyfriend at the time headbutted me. I got him to order me two scotches - one for me, and one to hold against the nose. It has a bone splinter that I can feel, and can see if you look really closely. But it didn't need bandaging, casting or anything. Depends how badly each person's nose is broken, I guess. Get some comfrey or something onto it for the bruising, if you're concerned.

Is it crooked? Does it bother you a great deal? See a doctor. If it doesn't bother you, if' it's not crooked, then you're fine. Fortunately, dying of a broken nose is a tough thing to do (it's been done, but it has to get shoved into your skull).

But you could get sinus issues.

I've broken my nose one to many times, and have, on three occasions, managed to completly blow up a blood vessle (well, managed to blow up the spot where 3 of them connect is what my Dr said when he had to cauterize it everytime).
If it hurts alot, and hurts to touch it, then go get it checked. It's better to get it set properly by a Dr if it is broken. The first time I didn't and it looked bad, the other times I did and he even set it a bit more flat so I didn't bash it up alot in boxing biggrin

I did pretty much the exact same thing about 3 weeks ago - dropped staff on nose trying to do helicopter spins. Ouch!!

It had a nice purple bruise, and did the slight grating thing. Was okay after about 10 days.
