So here I am again. It's been a while hasn't it. My alto sax initially got a lot of use. Funny isn't it, how a fulltime job takes away all your spare time. Haven't had any time to poi too, apart from Jugglejam on Mondays and the monthly Moonfests. And even then, it somehow seems I tend to play with the stockwhip instead of poi shrug

Another lens has been added to the stable too. A Canon EF-S 10-22 3.5-4.5.. nice and wiide. But it all boils back down to that time issue. Despite having the new lens, I seem to find I'm out taking less pictures.. the folio hasn't been updated in a while, and I'm starting to get the horrible feeling I'm stagnating. Must. Get out of this rut.

If you're my muse and reading this, inspiration needed now. hug

-Edited 14 Dec 2005-

I liken this to opening the fridge to find that jar of misc what's it, several months expired ubblol. Hey how's it going? wave

So what's new! Well.. poi's getting a bit better for one thing. Nice how after poi-ing for a while, you stop hitting yourself senseless. In fact, one might argue how after a certain point, each hit puts more sense into you.. wink Haven't gone skating or rockclimbing in a bit, but that's ok- life's full of wonderful distractions, and really, you can only do a couple at a time.

University's just wrapped up! Yep. A degree in art & visual culture, television & digital media.. Just waiting for a piece of paper at the moment (yay!). And trying to sort out how Australia will let me live here forever and ever biggrin. Have I mentioned how wonderful it is, you so ought to visit *nudge* wink Also been getting out the with photography and stuff- a couple of projects to follow up on, blue skies and puffy clouds as far as I can see.

Updates updates. [insert geek] I've updated my camera gear too.. my 20D, 17-85 4-5.6 IS and 580EX now have a 70-200 2.8L IS to play with.. soon too, riding on getting a particular gig, either a 350D and a 24-105 f4 IS, or another 20D.. -grin- [/end geek]

[edit 14/12/05: Gig didn't go through, and ended up performing at it instead of shooting it ubblol Life has a funny way of messing you about doesn't it.. so no 2nd body for me just yet, or nice 24-105 f4 IS redface]

Been taking lots of photos lately. I think there's something intrinsically beautiful in capturing moments- you know how you look at a photo and it brings you back to where you were that day, who you were with, how the air smelt even.. Maybe one day I'll get to exhibit ubblove.. but yeah.. lots of work to be done meantime.

Hmmmm.. yes the world's beautiful today. It's good to have new toys, new moves, new direction.. old friends hug.. a best friend hug2, and enough distractions not to get bored for too long.

Btw.. favourite words haven't changed.. ubbrollsmile And mm.. I'm still not too close to balletic, and dulcet..

Hmm.. la la la laaa squawk.. footinmouth

[edit 14/12/05: I now have a beautiful alto saxophone- the best use of which I have thus far found, is to attract ducks and other misc waterfowl]

Yep, how about we say still aspiring. biggrin

Hope all's well with everyone- don't be strangers now! hug biggrin

I've been exploring this site a bit lately, and have decided everyone seems like a nice bunch- thought it's about time I said hello. Ryan, 24, born in Singapore, but Brisbane Australia has been home to me for the past 3 years.

I love photography, playing the guitar (if one took a picture of me with my guitar, it looks like I'm playing it- does that count?), getting from point A to B on my trusty mountain bike, inline skating and hockey, occasionally rockclimbing, and just being in good company. I'd also like to add poiing to the list when I stop hitting myself senseless.

Irrelevantly, my two favourite words (I've got heaps if anyone's interested) are 'balletic' and 'dulcet'. 'Balletic', unfortunately, isn't a word I'd use to describe anything I can do, and 'dulcet' is a word I haven't dreamt of aspiring towards yet.

Enough for now, don't be strangers! biggrin

Hmmn, Ry, somehow, all the sighing leads me to suspect that I should be returning this camera... Pm me your thoughts?

So far, I have only taken pictures of my cats, and it seems just fine... But what do I know? Waterproofness so I could photograph the phosphoresence was a big sell point, as was the durability factor--- I am always trekking around, camping, backpacking, beaching--but if the pictures are gonna suck I shall have to reconsider... Or maybe buy another too, for when I am not travelling?

Oh, here it is still storming, but we have both power and coffee, so I am happy. It is my birthday today , so I had not only power, and coffee, but delicious CAKE!!! Yum, very very happy!!!!

Hmm.. did you knoy. HoP removes emoticons from long posts! grr. argh. Will split this into two..

Eek. It's been a million years since my last post. eek Been really slack. As a general update- this has been my first week away from full-time work in the past 6 months, everything's looking a bit unnerving at the moment. And going off on holiday in the next 18 days means it's a bit tricky getting something lined up for January. A bit of a conundrum there.. juggle

Anybody getting married and short of a photographer? ubbidea

But yes.. the time off has been great- the last 2 months at work have been particularly hectic, and I was beginning to forget what free time felt like. Always look on the bright side of life? Hmm. Back to the drawing board! *ponder* ubbloco

Pete: It's now probably a week til you're here the time I seem to have disappeared for!

Jobness.. as above. But thanks so much for the good luck vibes- they're very much appreciated..

Can't wait to catch up in January! hug

Andrea: So how's the camera going? And where's my deer shot? Not like I suspect you're making up the existence of these pests so as to have an unusual, interesting story to share.. ubbangel

Good to hear the birthday celebration went well too! Although.. I may have missed several birthdays since we last caught up Back now though! cool

And and ubblol ubblol ubblol! at your gallery's new additions! Canadians.. seem to look somewhat odd and very alien

Would you like a little paper umbrella with that? ubbrollsmile

Elke: mmm was good catching you out these parts! hug Was a nice surprise.. only expected to have 5 or 6 people from around the area. Might do it a bit more regularly if these winds

die down. Getting a bit gusty lately..

How good would it be if Monday juggle had a fire area! *dream* Coming tonight? ubbangel

Pip: 18 now! bounce bounce2 Are you packed are you packed? Thanks for a great weekend (as always) lovely girl.. At this rate we're going to run out of daytrip places pretty soon.. *realisation* eek

Hey! Speaking of photos.. ubbidea I've still got some pictures of you and your mum at Cedar Creek in one of the cameras.. I'll try to upload them to the comp today I bet she hasn't got any recent pics of you ubbrollsmile

And yes.. speaking of Cedar Creek.. Do you think it'd be an idea to organise a 2 hour each way hike to try to find this elusive waterfall? cool I suppose interested parties could register interest now!

Rynocerous? Purnellephant (or Pippapotamus kekeke)! Animalify everyone!! *raid* hug kiss

Pat: You're taking up contact staff?? ubbloco How did that happen?

I always thought it was quite fascinating but judging by how badly I seem to juggle a football with my feet, I've decided that my body's awareness of itself is pretty lousy.

Running out of things to tether to myself and swing around ubbloco

gah. That brought up a horrible mental image of those guys who hang tv sets from their nuts.. *shudder*

Bek: Have you bought your ticket here yet? One way's not that expensive you know? wink

Tony: *unfireman's lift's myself and trickily counterfiremans's lifts you*

*and runs!!* biggrin

Hey did you get round to getting that whip? Remember you mentioning it but can't remember seeing you with one.. even if you did show up with a flashy unicycle rolleyes

Coming tonight?

Lou: Hey kitten.. First of all, yay!! ubbrollsmile Phone-ness! Second of all. Poo. Ran out of normal credit so can't use my free minutes. gah. It would be great if there was a way to just make sure the thing could never go below $2..

gah to you Optus! gah to you I say!

Hope everything's wonderful, good and under control on your side? Multitasking kittens tend to do better with less tasks and now that exams and things are out of the way, I'd imagine you'd be having a ball (of yarn perhaps?) hug

And oi! No giving Pip poking ideas! No fair.. 2 on 1 *floop*

Loz: Hey Miss Brazil! Getting excited yet? January 9th is just round the corner! bounce bounce2

Thanks for the wonderful PM's btw.. hug have been meaning to reply to the last one, but I seem to have accidentally slipped off the face of the planet.. slippery everywhere! It's almost as if someone's deliberately put jam on all visible walking surfaces.. *curious and curiouser*

I really like the direction your poi seem to be taking- fast pirouettes into slow turns etc. sound very nice. Something I'm going to try working on tonight is short arm (locked/closed elbow?) pirouttes or 360s while keeping in plane? Presumably at shoulder or on waist or underarm.. think it's pretty tricky, and looks good in theory.. Practical may debuff this. ubblol

Ta muchly for the ham sandwiches too! smile

Wait wait.. *gah!!* What is this! More jam!!

heya ry...

I started playing with contact staff months ago... but shortly after I got a contact staff of my own, I tried poi for the 1st time... and didn`t touched a staff in pretty much the entire time since.

but I had another brief play with the contact again on the weekend, and quite enjoyed it... shrug as is my way, I`ll keep toying with pretty much everything occasionally and get good at nothing...

whips... reminds me I gotta get u to show me how to crack one of those babies... but it won`t be tonight, cos I won`t be there... rolleyes

okay Ry, just for you, I will try to put a deer in my gallery tonight. Since he likes my front porch so much I figure he will do fine in the gallery too... Unpainted, he moves pretty fast and I have not yet found a successful method of decorating him. He is very fast! They all are the sneaky buggers.

I love the camera, love that it is so easy and portable and I never have to worry about it and I can do little videos, and eventually I can photograph my underwater adventures... so far so good. Still can not take great pictures all the time, mostly cause I dont yet know what all the settings do. But figuring it out has been fun!

Yes, Canadians are funny looking...My friends especially.

The deer photo I am putting up is a quick snapshit taken when he and I scared the censored out of each other the other night. I heard someone coming up the stairs, knocking snow of their boots. So I went to the door, opened it, and had a deer looking in my face! We both screamed, he jumped off the patio, then I took his picture.Later he came back to steal the birdfeed.

Glad you seem well, and hope you and pip have super fun on your trip.Soon!

I am really looking forward to mine too. It is way too dark here lately, and I am bored of being trapped by the snow. I have to hike and hitchhike in to work tomorrow cause I still cant get my car out. Sigh. Wish I had skis handy.

Thailand here I come!

Also having a bit of a racoon infestation to be honest. One has figured out the cat door. Fortunately, most of them too fat to fit through, but they do thunk around a lot trying and wake me up. I will never forget Andy( Poibox) letting them in the house, all the while commenting on the " fat funny looking cats with little masks and rings on their tails"... OMG I almost peed laughing.
