So here I am again. It's been a while hasn't it. My alto sax initially got a lot of use. Funny isn't it, how a fulltime job takes away all your spare time. Haven't had any time to poi too, apart from Jugglejam on Mondays and the monthly Moonfests. And even then, it somehow seems I tend to play with the stockwhip instead of poi shrug

Another lens has been added to the stable too. A Canon EF-S 10-22 3.5-4.5.. nice and wiide. But it all boils back down to that time issue. Despite having the new lens, I seem to find I'm out taking less pictures.. the folio hasn't been updated in a while, and I'm starting to get the horrible feeling I'm stagnating. Must. Get out of this rut.

If you're my muse and reading this, inspiration needed now. hug

-Edited 14 Dec 2005-

I liken this to opening the fridge to find that jar of misc what's it, several months expired ubblol. Hey how's it going? wave

So what's new! Well.. poi's getting a bit better for one thing. Nice how after poi-ing for a while, you stop hitting yourself senseless. In fact, one might argue how after a certain point, each hit puts more sense into you.. wink Haven't gone skating or rockclimbing in a bit, but that's ok- life's full of wonderful distractions, and really, you can only do a couple at a time.

University's just wrapped up! Yep. A degree in art & visual culture, television & digital media.. Just waiting for a piece of paper at the moment (yay!). And trying to sort out how Australia will let me live here forever and ever biggrin. Have I mentioned how wonderful it is, you so ought to visit *nudge* wink Also been getting out the with photography and stuff- a couple of projects to follow up on, blue skies and puffy clouds as far as I can see.

Updates updates. [insert geek] I've updated my camera gear too.. my 20D, 17-85 4-5.6 IS and 580EX now have a 70-200 2.8L IS to play with.. soon too, riding on getting a particular gig, either a 350D and a 24-105 f4 IS, or another 20D.. -grin- [/end geek]

[edit 14/12/05: Gig didn't go through, and ended up performing at it instead of shooting it ubblol Life has a funny way of messing you about doesn't it.. so no 2nd body for me just yet, or nice 24-105 f4 IS redface]

Been taking lots of photos lately. I think there's something intrinsically beautiful in capturing moments- you know how you look at a photo and it brings you back to where you were that day, who you were with, how the air smelt even.. Maybe one day I'll get to exhibit ubblove.. but yeah.. lots of work to be done meantime.

Hmmmm.. yes the world's beautiful today. It's good to have new toys, new moves, new direction.. old friends hug.. a best friend hug2, and enough distractions not to get bored for too long.

Btw.. favourite words haven't changed.. ubbrollsmile And mm.. I'm still not too close to balletic, and dulcet..

Hmm.. la la la laaa squawk.. footinmouth

[edit 14/12/05: I now have a beautiful alto saxophone- the best use of which I have thus far found, is to attract ducks and other misc waterfowl]

Yep, how about we say still aspiring. biggrin

Hope all's well with everyone- don't be strangers now! hug biggrin

I've been exploring this site a bit lately, and have decided everyone seems like a nice bunch- thought it's about time I said hello. Ryan, 24, born in Singapore, but Brisbane Australia has been home to me for the past 3 years.

I love photography, playing the guitar (if one took a picture of me with my guitar, it looks like I'm playing it- does that count?), getting from point A to B on my trusty mountain bike, inline skating and hockey, occasionally rockclimbing, and just being in good company. I'd also like to add poiing to the list when I stop hitting myself senseless.

Irrelevantly, my two favourite words (I've got heaps if anyone's interested) are 'balletic' and 'dulcet'. 'Balletic', unfortunately, isn't a word I'd use to describe anything I can do, and 'dulcet' is a word I haven't dreamt of aspiring towards yet.

Enough for now, don't be strangers! biggrin

Okay, how's this:

On deviantART, there's a photo contest to portray one of the seven deadly sins. I'm going to have my fire eater friend pose in a lusty manner to symbolize defiance against the powers that be, taking away the only punishment they have to offer. It's going to rock, hopefully.

Well, the only prize is a subscription to deviant art, and I really don't have a chance of winning. There are some really amazing photographers on that site, who have much better training and whatnot. I'm just entering for fun and to challenge myself artistically. My friend isn't available for the shoot for a little while, but when I get it submited I'll send you a link.

Can't say the deviant art format has ever appealed to me. I quite like the idea, but it seems like too many clicks to get to any content. I think it's a bit overdesigned- does that make any sense?

Yeah good luck with the entry- I'd be keen to see how it goes.. smile

I'm so afraid I'll hit some crazy age and look back going 'haven't really done anything have I..'

re: Waifs news.. gah. Though I suppose Australia's not really a big enough market for them. Wish them all the best, and do hope they get down here to Brissie at some point. Heck if I wait too long, I'd possibly pay to see them play anywhere in Aus.. mad2

Lou: Purple fairy kittens.. *sigh* I've got Imogen mesmerising me again. My tracklist looks like Hide and Seek, Hide and Seek, Hide and Seek, Hide and Seek, Hide and Seek.. I'm going crazy, kitten.. frown

Ry, did I tell you I have deer? Not just one, a whole freakin herd. It is a bit like a plague of locusts, really.

They even manage to jump the 7 ft fence into the food garden!eek help However, the little MF-ers can't seem to jump back out after munching my veggies into the ground , so I often come out in the morning to a fat lazy satiated deer or two waiting for me to open the gate...angry

I have tried all sorts of things to get rid of them, to no avail. Do you know what kind of things people tell you to do to your garden to discourage deer? umm Well, suggestions include disgusting deterrents like placing human hair all around the plants, getting a big scary noisy dog, or put dog s--t in the borders, pee along the outer perimeter, spread blood and bone meal... you get the idea. Disgusting.

I have tried a few, but frankly, that extreme sorta discouraged *me* from the garden. The deer did not mind so much. Nick told me to mist the plants with egg yolk water. Oh yeah, brilliant, could not go near the garden til it rained due to the rotting egg smell...YUK

Today I decided to give in, give up, go with the flow---instead of raising a garden, I will just adopt and raise the deer herd. Instead of Garden Parties, I will have Deer Decorating Parties.peace I figure I need to paint them so they look as pretty as all my flowers that they so love to eat. So I think I am going to get a massive paint ball gun and Jackson Pollack the whole damn bunch of Bambis...ubbtickled

Then instead of pretty colourful flowers brightening my yard, blowing in the breeze, I will have delightfully decorated deer milling about. ubbidea Perhaps I can arrange some sort of choreograghy with them? Deer aranging instead of flower arranging. Should work. We shall see...

At least until Andy comes back. While here he began mastering the bola. Maybe he can nab a few, and then the neighborhood can have a venison roast. I dont eat meat myself, but man, these guys are seriously asking for it! devil

Sorry for the rant, but they really are annoying! Friends who know me as a peaceful- hippy- buddist- nature -loving sort are seriously perturbed when they come for a visit and catch me abruptly leaping up, running outside screaming obsentities, throwing stones and chasing " wee innocent bambi's" off the property...ubblol

There a whole freaking forest they can eat from! Why cant they stay out of my little garden! Arggghhhhhh!!!!!!

censored

lolsign

Anyhows, Just wanted to post this notice really, to offer you all some deer. Come and get em! Please!

Can I have a relationship with someone who not only likes, but plays, country music? I cant see it, really. Hard to even imagine. Inconceivable. But I am still tempted...

I go away for a while to NY, which will give me a chance to contemplate whether this is an insurmountable obstacle to our tentative, fledgling playful relationship. We shall see...

Jean: 8 ball.. Getting your ass handed to you's a lot better than handing your ass to yourself. You know how in pubs there might be a challenger table? Put a coin on the side and wait for your turn? There was this once I put my coin down, waited my turn, racked up, let the opponent break..

Nothing went in off the break, I got two in, then one, then one, then one.. got everything in, til the black. Tha black went in- together with the white in a different pocket.

I kicked my own ass. ubblol

Andrea: A 7 foot fence eek?? How big are the deer! My solution consists of just one word.

Venison. biggrin ubblol

Can't say I've ever had much first hand experience with deer. Nothing so exotic round these parts. We've got a couple of kangaroos, but even then, you'd have to go a bit further out to find 'wild' ones..

Blood and bone meal sounds slightly.. gory for a little garden. So I'm guessing you've exchanged the garden for a deer sanctuary- what do you do with the deer?

Any pictures? Deer choreography! ubblol ubblol ubblol ubblove I imagine a Fantasia-esque scene.. deer with tutus ubblol Oh dear..

No pun intended.

re playing country music.. erhm.. I shan't comment smile Except do you really want your kids squaredancing?? All 8 of them??

Hope you're well, and thanks for such a beautiful post.. hug hug2

Mandy: 8 foot? 7.1 should be enough.. surely! wink Me bes good-ish. Looking after myself as best I can.. it's good to have money coming in at last. Starting to plan things a bit more I guess.

Also trying to solve the whole home is where the heart is..but where is the heart thing. If that makes any sense.

How are you yourself dear? hug

I can easily send deer pictures!! I would send the bear picture too, but everyone teases me mercilessly for my funny fuzzy hair and horrid glasses... Its one of the worst pictures ever taken of me, though the bear looks adorable.

Perhaps I can post the deer pics as posters for adoption? But maybe I will wait til after I paint them. Hmmn. I do have one picture from this autumn, with about 12 in it, examining - and eating- some felled trees on the edge of my yard. I will see if I can find it for ya..

Deer are not exotic! They are just pests!!!

Yeah, I fear things with the new guy are not going far. That image of the 8 kids square dancing really clarified it for me! Yikes.
