So here I am again. It's been a while hasn't it. My alto sax initially got a lot of use. Funny isn't it, how a fulltime job takes away all your spare time. Haven't had any time to poi too, apart from Jugglejam on Mondays and the monthly Moonfests. And even then, it somehow seems I tend to play with the stockwhip instead of poi shrug

Another lens has been added to the stable too. A Canon EF-S 10-22 3.5-4.5.. nice and wiide. But it all boils back down to that time issue. Despite having the new lens, I seem to find I'm out taking less pictures.. the folio hasn't been updated in a while, and I'm starting to get the horrible feeling I'm stagnating. Must. Get out of this rut.

If you're my muse and reading this, inspiration needed now. hug

-Edited 14 Dec 2005-

I liken this to opening the fridge to find that jar of misc what's it, several months expired ubblol. Hey how's it going? wave

So what's new! Well.. poi's getting a bit better for one thing. Nice how after poi-ing for a while, you stop hitting yourself senseless. In fact, one might argue how after a certain point, each hit puts more sense into you.. wink Haven't gone skating or rockclimbing in a bit, but that's ok- life's full of wonderful distractions, and really, you can only do a couple at a time.

University's just wrapped up! Yep. A degree in art & visual culture, television & digital media.. Just waiting for a piece of paper at the moment (yay!). And trying to sort out how Australia will let me live here forever and ever biggrin. Have I mentioned how wonderful it is, you so ought to visit *nudge* wink Also been getting out the with photography and stuff- a couple of projects to follow up on, blue skies and puffy clouds as far as I can see.

Updates updates. [insert geek] I've updated my camera gear too.. my 20D, 17-85 4-5.6 IS and 580EX now have a 70-200 2.8L IS to play with.. soon too, riding on getting a particular gig, either a 350D and a 24-105 f4 IS, or another 20D.. -grin- [/end geek]

[edit 14/12/05: Gig didn't go through, and ended up performing at it instead of shooting it ubblol Life has a funny way of messing you about doesn't it.. so no 2nd body for me just yet, or nice 24-105 f4 IS redface]

Been taking lots of photos lately. I think there's something intrinsically beautiful in capturing moments- you know how you look at a photo and it brings you back to where you were that day, who you were with, how the air smelt even.. Maybe one day I'll get to exhibit ubblove.. but yeah.. lots of work to be done meantime.

Hmmmm.. yes the world's beautiful today. It's good to have new toys, new moves, new direction.. old friends hug.. a best friend hug2, and enough distractions not to get bored for too long.

Btw.. favourite words haven't changed.. ubbrollsmile And mm.. I'm still not too close to balletic, and dulcet..

Hmm.. la la la laaa squawk.. footinmouth

[edit 14/12/05: I now have a beautiful alto saxophone- the best use of which I have thus far found, is to attract ducks and other misc waterfowl]

Yep, how about we say still aspiring. biggrin

Hope all's well with everyone- don't be strangers now! hug biggrin

I've been exploring this site a bit lately, and have decided everyone seems like a nice bunch- thought it's about time I said hello. Ryan, 24, born in Singapore, but Brisbane Australia has been home to me for the past 3 years.

I love photography, playing the guitar (if one took a picture of me with my guitar, it looks like I'm playing it- does that count?), getting from point A to B on my trusty mountain bike, inline skating and hockey, occasionally rockclimbing, and just being in good company. I'd also like to add poiing to the list when I stop hitting myself senseless.

Irrelevantly, my two favourite words (I've got heaps if anyone's interested) are 'balletic' and 'dulcet'. 'Balletic', unfortunately, isn't a word I'd use to describe anything I can do, and 'dulcet' is a word I haven't dreamt of aspiring towards yet.

Enough for now, don't be strangers! biggrin

Hmmn missed the whole bit about labriynth, dark crystal et al...Scary Picture!I hope NOT to dream of Bowie tonight.

Truly classics... Just saw Dark Crystal again, fabulous!Watched Legend and Willow too, just for laughs.

Those who know Melbourne: any suggestion on where to go out for live music? Aaalternative, but not hard core. My ex just moved there, and doesn't know anyone. He is a musician, so usually he meets people wherever the local musicians hang out and perform/jam. Any ideas?

Hello everybody! thought I'd pop in here and clear up a few things:
Labyrinth totally rocks and any suggestion to the contrary is just WRONG (as is any adverse comment about any part of D. Bowie's anatomy.... wink)

Those outside Brisbane are forgiven for not knowing that pre -Woodford/Uberoz I attained status of Flyer Queen.

Ry now has Royal Dispensation and is Officially Allowed dominion over land and sea to harrass friends, strangers and visiting aliens with flyers and assorted promotional goodness so long as he manages to include the word CAMEL!!!!! in every sentence... hug

Zoo hehe.. any reason to see the meerkats eh? Was watching the news the other day and heard a couple of guys got arrested for stealing a baby meerkat! eek Got caught though.. biggrin mmm.. meerkats..

Beth: Yes! Dance magic dance! Just loved that! Liked when she fell down the hole and there were the hands and all- saw a documentary on the making of The Labyrinth, and they were talking about the thought process leading up to that scene being conceptualised.. super stuff. David Bowie's crotch eh? We know what you were dreaming about.. ubblol

Haven't watched Dark Crystal.. any good?

Kels: THREE whole weeks?! I'd ask you over, but someone's called me an invite whore.. tongue Hey, saw Chels tonight- she asked if you got her parcel thingie.. did you?

Fi: Gah! Go to a video store *now* and pick up The Labyrinth! And maybe some popcorn biggrin Those creatures were a bit more disturbing in the movie.. they were bouncing limbs and heads and things.. was a bit spooky- but there was fun music to it ubblol Who needs a head anyway.. But really, you have to catch it.. it's such a fun movie ubblove

Andrea: 'Intrepid'! Just because it's a very Calvin & Hobbesian thing.. and I think Bill Watterson uses lots of nice words.. ubblove Moonfest was wonderful (as usual)! Today was probably two or three times bigger than usual too- there was the residual crowd from the Sandgate Bluewater Festival, and people decided to stick around I guess.. in droves.. mm droves..

ps. Tell him to check out Bar Open? And the Veggie Bar's a good pre-night out dinner place.. wink

Hey, let me know what you think of the video won't ya! hug

Mandy: Hey, so aren't you over here yet? Jeez you're taking your own seet time aren't ya! ubbangel

Erin: Yes! And visit the Veggie Bar in Fitzroy too? Best chai ever! And stuffed mushrooms.. man.. how good were those stuffed mushrooms!! ubblove

OOoooh.. I see good movies listed in this thread :P

Dark Crystal is indeed a good one.. I'm drooling for the sequel!! I'm also drooling for the chance to meet Brian Froud this year (artist behind Darky Crystal and Labrynth). Got to meet Toby last year (his son and the baby in Labrynth). If you haven't seen Dark Crystal yet, Ry.. go out and see it!

I dunno, maybe it's just me, but I always thought that Kira and Rebecca De Mornay were the same person :P

What do you think?

I met the guy who did costuming/set design for the movie Legend in a teeny tiny restaurant in Northern Thailand. It was pretty hilarious, cause he was with Mel Gibson, who I hardly noticed and absolutely had no interest in! The guy ,whos name now eludes me, was laughing his head off at having more attention than Mel. Mel himself was somewhat bemused... and dare I say, a little relieved!

Big hug to you Ry! This weekend has been hectic, but I have been thinking of you, and want to put some ideas in the creativity thread when I get a chance.

For now, just lots of love your way, and a few good words in the morning!

Ry- yeah, check out Legend, for a laugh if nothing else... Tom Cruise, one of his first. He never admits to it!

A cute little fairie/pixie, Tim Curry as a fabulous must- be imitated- often Prince of Darkness, Unicorns, a fair maiden, a mission and goblins to get in the way... One little dark dance sequence I used to be obssessed with too!

Watch it with pals, along with Willow, Dark Crystal, Labrinth others? Cheesie movie marathon!
