So here I am again. It's been a while hasn't it. My alto sax initially got a lot of use. Funny isn't it, how a fulltime job takes away all your spare time. Haven't had any time to poi too, apart from Jugglejam on Mondays and the monthly Moonfests. And even then, it somehow seems I tend to play with the stockwhip instead of poi shrug

Another lens has been added to the stable too. A Canon EF-S 10-22 3.5-4.5.. nice and wiide. But it all boils back down to that time issue. Despite having the new lens, I seem to find I'm out taking less pictures.. the folio hasn't been updated in a while, and I'm starting to get the horrible feeling I'm stagnating. Must. Get out of this rut.

If you're my muse and reading this, inspiration needed now. hug

-Edited 14 Dec 2005-

I liken this to opening the fridge to find that jar of misc what's it, several months expired ubblol. Hey how's it going? wave

So what's new! Well.. poi's getting a bit better for one thing. Nice how after poi-ing for a while, you stop hitting yourself senseless. In fact, one might argue how after a certain point, each hit puts more sense into you.. wink Haven't gone skating or rockclimbing in a bit, but that's ok- life's full of wonderful distractions, and really, you can only do a couple at a time.

University's just wrapped up! Yep. A degree in art & visual culture, television & digital media.. Just waiting for a piece of paper at the moment (yay!). And trying to sort out how Australia will let me live here forever and ever biggrin. Have I mentioned how wonderful it is, you so ought to visit *nudge* wink Also been getting out the with photography and stuff- a couple of projects to follow up on, blue skies and puffy clouds as far as I can see.

Updates updates. [insert geek] I've updated my camera gear too.. my 20D, 17-85 4-5.6 IS and 580EX now have a 70-200 2.8L IS to play with.. soon too, riding on getting a particular gig, either a 350D and a 24-105 f4 IS, or another 20D.. -grin- [/end geek]

[edit 14/12/05: Gig didn't go through, and ended up performing at it instead of shooting it ubblol Life has a funny way of messing you about doesn't it.. so no 2nd body for me just yet, or nice 24-105 f4 IS redface]

Been taking lots of photos lately. I think there's something intrinsically beautiful in capturing moments- you know how you look at a photo and it brings you back to where you were that day, who you were with, how the air smelt even.. Maybe one day I'll get to exhibit ubblove.. but yeah.. lots of work to be done meantime.

Hmmmm.. yes the world's beautiful today. It's good to have new toys, new moves, new direction.. old friends hug.. a best friend hug2, and enough distractions not to get bored for too long.

Btw.. favourite words haven't changed.. ubbrollsmile And mm.. I'm still not too close to balletic, and dulcet..

Hmm.. la la la laaa squawk.. footinmouth

[edit 14/12/05: I now have a beautiful alto saxophone- the best use of which I have thus far found, is to attract ducks and other misc waterfowl]

Yep, how about we say still aspiring. biggrin

Hope all's well with everyone- don't be strangers now! hug biggrin

I've been exploring this site a bit lately, and have decided everyone seems like a nice bunch- thought it's about time I said hello. Ryan, 24, born in Singapore, but Brisbane Australia has been home to me for the past 3 years.

I love photography, playing the guitar (if one took a picture of me with my guitar, it looks like I'm playing it- does that count?), getting from point A to B on my trusty mountain bike, inline skating and hockey, occasionally rockclimbing, and just being in good company. I'd also like to add poiing to the list when I stop hitting myself senseless.

Irrelevantly, my two favourite words (I've got heaps if anyone's interested) are 'balletic' and 'dulcet'. 'Balletic', unfortunately, isn't a word I'd use to describe anything I can do, and 'dulcet' is a word I haven't dreamt of aspiring towards yet.

Enough for now, don't be strangers! biggrin

I found myself browsing social chat just now, and came across a quote thread. One instantly popped into mind, but I thought rather than let it get lost amongst the wisecrack types, might just share it here. It goes:

"There are not ten people in the world whose deaths would spoil my dinner, but there are one or two whose deaths would break my heart." (Thomas Babington Macaulay, 1833)

The first time I read it was right at the end of a Thom Hogan article which paid tribute to Galen Rowell.

https://www.bythom.com/chasing.htm

For those of you who have not heard of Galen, he was a truly talented photographer whose landscapes awed and inspired many. Myself included.

Unfortunately, Galen died in a tragic plane crash sometime in 2002, along with his wife Barbara.

His photographs are still a constant source of inspiration for me, and I thought I'd share:
https://www.toddskinner.com/portal/Galen/Galen_gallery.htm

As for the quote.. well. I don't know. Can somehow imagine myself to be like that- I'm not sure if that's a bad thing or not. Lost a grandaunt and a granduncle sometime last year, and though I liked them a lot- you know how you have favourite relatives- when I heard that they died I just thought 'oh.'.

I mean, is that a normal reaction to have??

Watched The English Patient again this afternoon- took the dvd out from the library. You know how it ends. I was thinking if I were in his position, I'd have gone mad.

I don't know.. just ranting. Maybe I need some sleep..

It's about a conclusion we came to the other day.. Bonnie's going to intimidate teaching staff with spoons.. Death by spoon would probably be more painful than death by fork ubblol

mmm Galen Rowell has done some amazing work.. felt so sad reading that tribute. ubbcrying

Gita: Thanks geets.. I'm just being picky because the depth of focus is so shallow that the fella's not evenly in focus.. like his eyes are out of focus, when compared to how sharp his abdomen looks.. I was just going for that creamy out of focus background- guess I got carried away ubbangel

mech: Non cool UK wildlife? *thinks* But bees are cool too.. (not really but I can't say it too loud.. don't want to hurt their feelings) ubbangel As for a surprise for Sophie.. lol.. just going by 'bees' and 'cool ass'.. it sounds like it would be a bit of a shocker.. ubblol

Mand: Ta muchly! biggrin eek Oh hey muchly sorry! Thought I did! Was wondering where those pics were.. Right away, right away.. hug
