This is really just to guage a reaction.

We (the Falmouth Fire Fellowship wink) were talking the other day about having a big fire party a couple of weeks before Christmas. Brad has an excess of wood in his shop that needs burning, and that's an excuse to have a party. smile

We're thinking probably the weekend of Friday 9th Dec - Sunday 11th Dec. What do people think? Anyone fancy a trek to Cornwall to spin in the cold? We can guarantee lots of paraffin, lots of fresh herbs, and lots of tasty ale. biggrin

Wouldn't caravans and chalets be better than B & B because then we could come and go as we please. Most B & B I've stayed in aren't too pleased when you turn up at 3am trying to find your way up the stairs.

Also if some camp and some get chalets if it really gets cold we can all bundle into the chalets to keep warm.

Just an idea......... biggrin

How about a mix - one night inland, one night at beach kind of deal...? I'm up for the beach, but that's because i miss the beach although if everyones in B&Bs in town its a bit of a trek to maenporth....

As for B&Bs well there's plenty of 'em.
see here: www.cornwall-online.co.uk,
it might also cover chalet type things and caravans - although the caravan parks might not be open at that time of year.

Unless we could rent a holiday home between LOADS of people and then it'd be dead cheap with lots of space (apart from being crammed with loads of people...) and warmth?!

I'd love to come to, not v good at poi and never done fire but I'm a very enthusiastic audience of 1

def at least 1 night on the beach please!!

Anything warm for me, but a big place sounds good - probably cheaper off season, closer to good places to play etc?

We feel a Indoor Hall event sounds good

Agrees most enthusiastically. For those not in attendance the Sheffield PIPHoPSPHERCDAYBALL was awesome in the church hall, we had kitchens for hot tea and loads of space for playing and sleeping. Maybe if we could do the same, rent it out for an evening or two, everyone chucks in a few quid and we're laughing, like this -> ubblol

Whaddya reckon?

Of course an island sounds fun and beach is always a laugh but will cold sea breezes be too much of a pain in the arse to make it fun or is there somewhere outside kinda sheltered from the elments that we could use? Don't forget the likelihood of rain could marr it all and that wouldn't be good, not good at all frown

Indoor is sounding increasingly nice smile
But to be honest I like Bug's island idea sunny
Is there really an exotic tropical island round Falmouth? Palm trees on white sandy beaches? Coconuts and bananas growing wild? Sounds like an awesome place for a spin biggrin
Please don't dash my hopes now umm

I'm afraid not. Ok, I'll get the number for the church hall we use for Circus Society down here. I take it you guys who came before don't want to go back to Pennance Mill? They do have chalets... and it's close to the beach...(but not much else).

If we base ourselves in town (at the church hall, say) the only beaches are ones which don't allow fires, and it'll be a trek to find anywhere in land that we can go. Hmmm. It's a puzzler.

Good to see you're on board though Duncy-wunc. ubblol

mmmmmmm........chalets ubblove Are there any nice ones near a beach we can use for fire? Whats the name of that camp site near Pennance Mill? On the way to the beach, on the corner where the ladies fell A over T on the way home one night ubblol *ahem* They allow fires there too don't they? if I remember rightly which, of course, is higly unlikely ubbangel

I hope so, we did that in Sheffield and it was lovely, so long as you could sleep through people constantly dropping staffs and what not, and certain pyrowills doing dirty things with ladies in the corner eek

If you book train at least a week before skully you can get a return fare from about 37 squids? (ish) something like that, but if you can get a lift from bristol, can i please too? ubbangel unless there's anyone i can think of in cardiff that i could drag down and owns a car........ hmm......... i shall ponder on't.

church hall sounds like a good idea, but i've always associated church halls with a distinct lack of heating anyway, so it doesn't sound to me like a warmer option... how about a pub, they're warm, couldn't we sleep in a pub.....? biggrin

Mags> do you reckon... just an idea now, but y'know that big open space in front of the castle, have you ever spun there? am wondering if they'd object to that with the same vigour as on the beach. That'd be so cool though, the whole of Falmouth would see and possibly think UFOs were landing..... *kicks self for not having thought of it whilst in falmouth*

Was also thinking - if in need of spaces - rugby club ground?, maybe locked though... random space at bottom of penmere hill... car park on the waterfront.... car park at the end of pendennis point... kimberley park (possibly, except for the flashers which I'm sure hang out there...) and why not swanpool, its far enough out the way for people to possibly not care... or or the car park near there as it's not technically the beach maybe fires are ok? biggrin Anyways just some possible suggestions, bearing in mind i never actually tried any of these, and only have a vague recollection of the size of any of them, what do you think?

'k. I'll shut up now. *woo!! falmouth*

Is anyone going from Bristol?

I AM! biggrin

I've already been on here and begged for a lift as i didn't want to drive all that way on me lonesome. SDLW from Bristol is also debating going so maybe we could sort something out. I was thinking of going down the Friday night and coming back Sun afternoon as i have a works thing sunday night.

So if there is some people that want to come from Bristol maybe we could get a convoy going!
