Hi.
I've just joined from my workplace in Edinburgh, Scotland.
I'm 23.
A girl.
Ummmm...
I did poi for quite a while on and off, until I started a sculpture course that was very heavy on the physical exertion side of things.
I'm currently teaching myself (!) contact juggling and I want to get back into the poi side of things, although I don't know how well that's going to work with my currently broken wrist.
There ya go!

Hey! Welcome. I'm trying to learn contact too! Not easy, is it?!

Not hugely easy, no.
I'm just pretty much playing about with it at the moment, trying to learn the basics.
Since (as I said before) I have a broken wrist, it's all very much one handed, and I'm using a metal ball that I found in a sale in some shop full of tat.
So I now have bruises all over me from dropping it.
But I'm enjoying it a lot.

It's the most rewarding thing ever when you manage to get it going.. beacuse it takes so long!

I'm loving it too, though. Know what you mean about bruises! I find that doing it in a large space makes it a bit easier because if I mess up I can tap it away without breaking loads of stuff

Hope the wrist is better soon!

I tend to practice in my living room, which works unless I drop the ball on breakables.
It seems to be magnetically attracted to a certain china dish.
I dunno what the ball's going to do since I put the dish in the kitchen...
That'll be an interesting experiment.

well not everyone plays every week... so I am sure meeting people is all good wink

turn up time: when dark ... summit like 9-10pm
You've been before... so i imagine you might know of the bench that lurks in the firey-spinney bit of the meadows... There will prolly be people lurking there... and if there's paraffin and people aren't too slack, there will prolly be the tell tale sign of some fire biggrin

Hello everyone!

Well, why, you mean the bit kinda up nearish the big junctiony bit under the trees?

Pink, I do like pink, but as an accent to black, generally.

Thanks for all the sympathy for the wrist. I go back to the fracture clinic next Tuesday to get x-rayed (again! I don't think all this radiation is good for me) and told whether I can stop wearing my wrist brace.
However, since I leant on it last week and it went crack , I don't know if it'll be good news.

cracks arent good. especially red ones. but, i seem to recall from physics that about 5 or less xrays per year is pretty safe. dont quote me on that, though.

You know, this has been 15 weeks now that it's been bust.
AND I broke it in an embarassing way.

Well, I went to the doctor because my right foot went numb. She said the heavy platform boots I wear may be pinching a nerve, and that I should wear flat shoes.
So I did, and then my trousers were too long and I tripped over them and broke my wrist.

What are the unwritten rules around here, then?
In what way have I already put my foot in it?
There has to be something. There is on all boards one is new to.
Mind you, I haven't asked about sparkly poi or coloured flames.....
