I'm not sure if Daryn will be back from sea but if he is we will be leaving Plymouth and will probably be able to squeze you in some how.

On the flip side of the coin if he isn't back and I can't blag someone else into driving then I'll be on the train in Plymouth

It has been pointed out that if the weather is against us the lovely town of Weston-super-mare is somewhat devoid of nice places to be.
Do poips want to move the event nearer to Bristol (seriously good music scene but more expensive accomodation) or wait to see what the weather is doing?
Or does anyone know of something good to do if all else fails?

I do have a back garden if people have tents although i'd have to check it's ok for people to crash. There are campsites nearer to bristol - check out the bristol juggling convention thread. I still think Weston for fun and the best for beach based antics although if the weather fails us it's a bit crap for nightlife and Bristol's 25 miles away so not easy or cheap to get to. I don't know if other Bristol people have read this as they might be able to suggest something....

Do you have any Ideas what to do if it's pouring? tongue

My investigations on the music rig front ended abruptly last night with a £200 fee frown Fancy asking your mate Teknonket?

hmm, I do have friends who live in WSM but I'm not too sure how they'll take to having an impromptu poi party descending on them, one of them will be there though so it may well happen, you never know...

I think the point StoneT is getting at - is if the weather is crap what do you want to do? If you're quite happy to stick to Weston that's what will happen.

i.e. are you quite happy to stick with Weston come rain or shine? Even if it pours are you happy to stay there and brave the Weston nightlife?

Do you not want to take the risk and move inwards slightly so if the weather is a pig we can get to a poi friendly spinning type club instead of braving Weston's dance happy under 18 venues!

I think StoneT is asking for your point of view to keep people happy and so they will have a trully excellent time!

I'll track him down tonight, would anyone have a marquee or large enough tent to get the rig under cover, power source would also be a must.

Also if that fails you can hire a 600 watt rig from litetech in Lipson for about £60, not alot between all of us.

Cheers for clarifying that BristolPoi smile
But to be honest I'm just asking so when everything goes wrong I can say "Well it's not my fault!" and "I told you!"
ubbangel

Nice one Teknonket!
I live in lipson! Where abouts is Litetech? I'll go and investigate.

An idea has occured to me so I thought I'd run it by you
Does anyone know of any big outdoor covered space in WSM?
No I'm not going nuts!
Somewhere like a multistorey car park or under a massive flyover. I know it's not glamorous or a lovely beach setting or anything but it's an idea no?
I can think of a few places round Plymouth like that (Marsh mills, bus station...) but that's not much use frown

Just a thought wink Keep up the good work!

I think so - it is up on stilts.....or there is a multistory. We could even try for the middle of the indoor shopping centre. Make some money on the side to fund drinking exploits!

Well If we do stay in weston the aquarium gets my vote so far wow I'm sure if we take a load of decoration stuff we could make it nice and cosy.
I also like the busking in the shopping centre idea. We could hold workshops in there and get paid for it! biggrin

Well by the sound of it Weston sticks, so StoneT get cracking with group booking discounts on dodgy caravan parks for us all to come and spin under the animals.

No setting fire to the place - don't think the manta rays will appreciate that!!

UPDATE:

Teknonket and Nate: If you require a lift I believe Mr Arkle has two spaces in his car (so long as you don't smell too bad wink) However we will be going up on Friday daytime and returning sunday daytime. PM me or him if you're interested.

Campsite:
£10 per night per tent eek (let's see if we can at least double up. Everyone in one tent? wink)
However, the camping area of country view is currently under water! and they don't expect it to dry out by next weekend frown
As there is nowhere else in Sand-bay that takes tents I'm temporarily stumped. confused

Music:
The (crazy old) guy at Litech can get us the stuff no probs... minus a generator.
To cut several very long stories short, to run a music system off a generator the generator needs to be rated at least 5 times the amp (600W amp = 3000W generator) and any delicate equipment (CD players, decks etc..) will at best work erratically and at worst be distroyed.
Possible solution: Hire the amp and speakers from there (£35) and a Big generator from somewhere else. Feed the amp from the headphone output of a battery powered ghetto-blaster type CD player.
Not great I know but I've never done this kind of thing before. any other suggestions?

If anyone has an ipod with a load of music then we could use a car to recharge it (via the ciggarette lighter, not the bettery!) and plug it into some stand alone speakers with a phono connection, depends on the weather as well as tif it gets wet we'll have trouble with that one...

I think the guy at Litetech is exagerating a bit, we've hired equipment from him before and ran it off a 2.5kw gennie and you just have to make sure the gennie is grounded with a spike or something, we have never had the decks blow up on us.
