A big hello to everyone with fluffy hugs for all!
I thought it was about time I gave your forum a try,as I've been burying my head in the lessons page for a good few months now. I'm feeling rather smug at the mo,as I've just got the hang of the alternate butterfly combo,and the 4 beat weave,but still working on the 5 beat,and anything behind the back!
I have Glastonbury to thank for introducing me to poi. I first saw fire twirlers there a couple of years ago and thought "oh my god,i want to do that!"and thats the problem, I want fire now!
My b/f reckons I'm not good enough,but then he's never even touched my poi (ooeer!) So I'm after professional advice guys,when is the best time to start with fire? (and dont say nightime!!)

Hello and welcome to HoP!
My advice with the fire is light up whenever you feel comfortable and confident enough with your poi! when you do light up - keep it simple and get used to the sound and feels of the flames rushing around you!

my advice dont hit yourself in the head it hurts, dont try anything new whilst they are on fire. unless you can do it.

Shifty-yes it does hurt! got myself a good'un the other day,whacked the back of my head so hard,my neighbour heard it! but strangely didnt hurt as much as I thought it would! maybe my bonce is getting used to it,or its just empty!
as for the fire,I still have to save up for a set,so plenty of time to practise,I'll probably be ready by the time it starts getting really cold outside!!

I work my hardest to make the stars and moon shine brite and beautiful! There are more colors to be seen at night than you think! Some stars are blue and some are even red! But it's hard to tell from way down here Next time you're outside gazing at the stars, think of me and my pal Nite Sprite - cause we're thinking of you too!
