Lonliness....I know how sad that is but I am scared of growing old alone....and that doesn't necessarily mean having a partner but as in not having any friends or family.

Being stuck inside a burning car. I can't start an engine while wearing a seatbelt just in case it blows up. Irrational, I know, but what fears aren't?

The other one I am truely scared of is being eaten by a bear. Tigers? Pah! Lions? Meh!. Bears? Brown trousers time.

Not likely to happen in Brisbane though.

There is a slight possibility that I am not actually right all of the time.

Native - Argh...I'm scared...what are you a mirror image of me???

I have that awful habit of pushing people away when they get too close to me as well.

Bit of a stupid habit for someone scared of lonliness isn't it?

yes it is a silly habit.
but this is how it goes
ok we dont want to be hurt so we push people away so we wont get atached. but every now and then we do get atached when this happens we dont relize it but we push them away so we cant get any closer. because if we do we will be hurt worse.
we deney our self the chance of love because we are affraid
of bieng hurt by our love

lately i've started to fear losing my mind ubbloco

no, jokes aside, i'm serious.

my grandad's really ill in hospital at the moment. he's had alzheimers for some time now, but since he went into hostpital his condition is rapidly deteriorating. he's completely lost the plot. he doesn't know who we are most days. he shouts profanities at doctors & nurses that come too close to him. sometimes it's funny and we can have a laugh about it, what else can you do? we all understand that he doesn't mean to offend anyone, it's just that he's no clue what he's doing.

my mum's starting to go around forgetting things lately too, and my memory has been terrible for years (but that's probably from all the smoke) maybe alzheimers is in our genes.....

but seeing the state my grandad's in, it's gotta be one of the worst ways to end your days, i'd rather be put to sleep.......

My mind not only wanders, it sometimes leaves completely smile

faberge - i know exactly what you mean!! my grandmother died from dementia last year, and my grandfather was already showing signs before she died. now he's pretty bad too! and my dad is beginning to get a bit forgetful...and i have been too for a while...mum's decided it's pre-determined. it's in the genes, and if i don't die from heart complications, it'll probably be alzheimers/dementia. joy!! but i'm gonna try and do things to avoid that! i don't know if i can avoid alzheimers, but heart conditions i can!! smile

i think my biggest fears are...well, i'm not sure. i've had to face a few of them recently, so my perspective has changed...

I know I shouldn't be scared of this, but it's the getting old thing I'm worried about.
It's not that I should be all grown up and act responsible, it's the fact that my body can't take the abuse it used to.
Hangovers are worse.
Accidents hurt more.
Pain lasts longer.
Need a decent nights sleep.

I'm afraid of getting old too. But only getting old to the point where I can't care for myself anymore, and need assistance. I've done little concerts in some oldfolks homes before, and you look at them, and they look half dead already, with the young nurses pushing them around in their wheelchairs. It just seems such a sad point after a long and happy existance. My great grandmother also died of alzheimers... But she's been the only one so far. Longevity is really up there for the girls on both sides of my family...

I'd just hate the thought that I'd get old, and have to get someone else to take care of me...

i dont have MANY irrational fears at all.....most of mine are perfectly rational....like when i climb a ladder i'm quite scared i might fall off n kill myself....BUT i DO have one big huge one. I have o neg blood n its universally acceptable, no one of any bloody type rejects it so its the stuff they give to peeps in accidentals n stuff where they aint got time to to find out the type of the victim....and so i consider it a moral duty to give blood as often as i possibly can.....IN SPITE OF being scared WITLESS of something happening to all the nurses and being left on the table with this needle sucking out the essence of my life n me not spotting no one is about til its WAY too late and not having the energy to pull out the needle or stop it and slowly SLOWLY dieing a horrible death bleeding to and fading in and out. there...thats me...i's stopping now...ave to bloody give blood tomoro n typing this is making me sweat!! frown

It's smashing to be back x

i'm afraid of not having people to love and share my life with....family, friends, a partner

and i'm afraid of my body deteriorating. that sounds weird, but i did a health genogram once, and it really made me think. everyone should honestly try it. basically you do a genogram, 2 generations up (more if you know it), and you write down health problems everyone has had and cause of death if they are deceased. cancer runs in my family, and potential heart problems. but the big thing is the deterioration of our joints. it's genetic. i've already had knee surgery when i was 17 years old, and i'm in pain most days. i'd honestly almost rather take cancer (which i also have already have). between both of my parents, they have had 4 hand surgeries for carpal tunnel, back surgery, orthoscopic knee surgery, a complete knee replacement. i myself have knee problems, arthritis and carpal tunnel, back problems, shoulder problems, neck pain. i like being active and i have to realize that i can't be as much as i'd like. and i don't like the idea that my whole life i may be in constant pain.

I was always scared with my mother's obsession with the good scissors. It made me wonder if there were evil scissors lurking in the house somewhere.

This is totally irrational and I don't where I get it from, but I am scared s---less of being trapped in a room with the water level slowly rising. Movies like the Abyss, the Cell and Das Boot give me nightmares. Even Pirates of the Carribean had a pleasant oh-crap-I'm-trapped-and-gonna-drown scene...PG-13 my ass! (In my mind at least.)

I never want to go into a nursing home, that in itself is a death sentence to me. I would rather be turned out into a field than go into a nursing home.

My other fear is very tall heights and falling off of them. Like rollar coaster rides ubblol

i dont have one fear, it would be awful to spend your life concious but paralyzed, it would be awful to lose your mind, and thus life, it would be awful to die painfuly(fire, drownding, eletrocution...)

I am scared of hospitals...
I freak out and start shaking.
I think its because of the brain surgery and all the time I spent there now I associate the place with pain...
I cant even smell detergent without freaking a bit...

I cant use peach shampoo, because thats what the nurse washed the blood out of my hair with and I get really scared when I smell it... my heart races and arsn says I go white

Im petrified of going fast in a car. I used to cry when the speed hit 120 kms. Im more comfertable now, but I think that fear cames from when my dad and I were in a car crash and I was only 7 and the wheels of the car were hanging off the edge of the cliff on my side...
I was so scared

um I think my deepest fear is loosing arsn... how can you keep living without part of your heart and soul?
