Well, some of you will remember me, some of you won't. But I guarantee the ones who remember me don't know me any more

So what *has* Quix been up to these last few months?
Well I think it's time to fill in the blanks
Basically I lost my job due to the same emotional turmoil that lead to me leaving this place for three months. It was a very hard time for me and I won't go into it because the reasons, well, they seem so silly and ridiculous in hindsight.
What matters is that losing my job brought me back to my home town of Cheltenham and brought me to some hefty realisations.
I know people here, lots of people. Last night is a good example. I went out to an open-mike night at a local pub with a load of my friends and knew everyone who was getting up onto stage more or less. We sat in a huge group of tables pushed together, about 30 of us.
I left before that finished though because I had to go and meet more people I knew in another pub before we made a move to a local club for a night called Judder. Run by a local music company, a company I sort of know the owner of and several people on their label... you guessed it, I know. As we make a move we run into a good handful of the people from the open mike night and all go together.
When I got to the club I knew so many people there. There were hugs, kisses on cheeks, the works. The people I didn't know there, were friends of friends and a lot of them I know now.
And today, after this post, I shall be going down to the local center of culture for this small town and meeting a bunch of them there to discuss how fantastic was, not because we planned to meet but because they'll be there and I know they will, and we shall taunt those who missed it.
This is what I've never had in my life. Connection to place and people.
Hence my life decision. I am no longer interested in the big career and the big money I've spent so much of my life pursuing, it could never be as rewarding as the life I have now. What I want is enough to get by on and keep me living here, right here, where I know everyone and everything that goes on. Where I feel a part of it.
It's quite something when you realise you belong like that. That's what I've been doing these last few months.

Seeing as everyone on the irc channel we hang out on and everyone who reads my live journal saw her just like that, and everyone we know who was at Judder saw her in that and more (they saw below the waist, for starters) I don't think there's a problem here.
