hey there

I first discovered poi in Byron Bay, Australia last year and was totally and irrevocably hooked. I've been practising ever since (helped immensly of course by HoP) and still love it.

first time with fire... wow, now that's a feeling!

This is just such a great website, I know that my poi would have died a death (along with all the other things i thought I'd stick to after my gap year) if i hadn't found it.

am now studying animation in surrey... enjoy poi (obviously), art, reading, films and chocolate (mostly the latter but i didn't want to mention it first for fear of looking greedy)

am lovely, but don't mind if you don't want to take my word for it

am going to break the trend on my first post by being the first post not to include a smilie face

hmmm. "flashfire" (if that IS your real name) is certainly playing with fire (no pun intended... not much anyway). who would give up poi for the staff? i mean pur-lease!!

poi; the freedom of the rope, the danger that comes with the flexibility, the smell of occasionally singed hair. danger, excitement and laughter all rolled in to one. and you'd have me exchange all that for a stick on fire?

tut tut my friend.

ps. any one that does not like the colour pink clearly has no soul. and i mean that in the nicest and least judgemental way possible.

that's great- i think everyone should do a gap year

I went to Geelong when i was in Oz, beautiful place. But then i cycled there from Warnambool along the great ocean road, so to be honest just about anywhere would have looked beautiful!

where you going on your gap?

hug back (look, i'm finally using those sodding smilie face things, isn't everyone proud of me!)

wonderful word is "sodding," can be made to fit in to almost any situation. and it doesn't get censored often.

trust me, when you cycle the great ocean road and finally see Geelong at the end, there is nowhere on earth more beautiful. it is a shining beacon on the horizon.

good luck with the teaching thing- that sounds amazing! i wanted to do something like that this year, but never got my arse in to gear... so it's going to be bumming around europe. shucks.

and why is it that nearly every spinner does rowing too? it seems to be this whole other world that i'm missing out on, and you guys must have really strong arms!!!

I was always scared with my mother's obsession with the good scissors. It made me wonder if there were evil scissors lurking in the house somewhere.

i wouldn't bother if i were you smile

and as for bumming around europe, know it all sounds very nice, but not speaking any languages (except english and bad english) and being only a very small sort of person makes the whole thing slightly daunting...

but still fun smile
