My own preference (which may be completely unrepresentative) would be for something with the following qualities:
- made of lightweight perforated leather
- covers as much as it needs to, but no more
- snug but not restrictive
- reinforced with heavy leather over high-wear areas (knees, butt)
- black in areas that are likely to get smudged, but perhaps some other color/s in other spots

Ok, this would be appropriate for a man:

1) Snug-fitting, stretchy stuff that hugs the skin.

2) Made of material that doesn't hang on to ash scuffs. If I hit myself, it tends to be below the knees and on my back between my shoulders, so maybe those areas could be black.

3) Lots of bright contrasting colors in other places. Asymmetry is cool.

4) No sleeves.

Personally, I like industrail/apopalyptic H.R. Geiger-esque designs. Leather with spaces cut out for more breathing room and also that whole peek-a-boo effect. Tight is also good because you don't have to worry about watching out for extra material. For women a leather corset would be nice. And maybe some wrist coverings for protection will doing wraps.
There's my .02. Good luck and be sure to post a picture of whatever you do when its done.

you can't have a war against terrorism because war IS terrorism.it's not about worshipping fire. its about making the fire want to worship you.

Spin naked with specially designed see-through piercing coverings to prevent ripping

It was a day for screaming at inanimate objects.

What this calls for is a special mix of psychology and extreme violence...

Ok, call me a sexist pig, but I don't want to see hairy man skin poking through a costume.

THAT SAID, the costume designer for the original Star Trek series said that the two easiest materials to work with are veleur (sp?) and female skin...

Peace.

I'm just learning some good arm wraps now and i have a friend working on some arm-coverings for it. Leather with either buckles or laces, gauntlets if you will....

black is good, black is all good for looks and for covering up those impact marks. Personally, i have no issues spinning shirtless, i still have all my chest hair thankfully.

When i do spin, it's just some dark 3/4 pants and my goggles I don't want the costume to take too much away from the fire show.....

Between Furlong and Bender, I came up with an idea: Leather forearm coverings, but the rest of the arm is bare to the shoulder.

Peace.

Maybe try to incorporate something which would reflect the light from the fire? Those little mirror things that some womens dresses have on!

Have you noticed the correlation between sequins and undercover cops?

The only cops I've seen in sequins were in a bar I walked into accidentally in San Francisco. But I'm sure they were off-duty...
