If all works out well, seeing your name in print (on something you've written, not on a photo in the paper or anything like that) is one of the best feelings in the world, take it from me, i'm a seasoned pro wink

Hmm. Not sure i'm up to being admired. Takes all sorts though i guess.

After a bit of emailing, i rang the magazine's editor and had a brief chat. She's going to ring me next week to meet her for coffee. Don't know yet if it's a job job, or a freelance thing, or even if i have a chance of getting it, but we shall see. Either would be cool of course.

Been kinda low-ish this evening. Mojo's off out on the town, so i won't see her til tomorrow. It's very easy for me to say that i can cope with being close with her but not actually be with her. It's not so easy to do. She continually reinforces the fact that we're not together, and that even if we do get back together it won't be for a while. And I just look blankly back at her and nod dumbly and wish I could know I was hers again.

Ah well. At least I have my elf, that's the main thing.

My friend Claire dropped by this evening to bring me some green, cos i ran out. This is it folks. Can't foresee being able to buy anymore for a while after this. Expect rants. smile

Hopefully Taz (I'm sure i've mentioned Taz, he's my ex-brother-in-law, or ex-wife's brother, or however you want to put it) will be up in a bit for a natter. He's bringing me baccy. smile

Just wish I could get what people mean when they say "You just need to learn how to be on your own." I know how to be on my own. I do it a lot. It sucks. Why would i voluntarily want to be left to my own devices? I'd only get into trouble and/or get hurt.

That last bit was an experiment to see how well sarcasm comes across on a forum. It doesn't, does it?

Bon nuit mes enfants.

I never started it. T'wasn't me.

August 28th 12.15pm

Dear lord. I got so stoned i couldn't see last night. Taz came over and we watched tv and played PS2. I guess he went home and i went to bed, as that's where i awoke.

Woke up around 9am. Was lying in bed wishing i could go back to sleep and listening to the kids to make sure they didn't thump each other. Suddenly i heard the front door open. It was Tamsyn's mother, come to check that the kids were ok, as she'd been so worried about them after "popping in" while i was asleep yesterday morning.

I was not happy.

Staying in bed, i rang Tamsyn and asked her what the hell her mother thought she was up to, and generally went "grrr" down the phone. Half an hour later i received a phone call from my ex-mother-in-law; she was yelling and telling me that i am an unfit father, and "the kind of person social services take kids away from."

Which was nice.

Seeing as she'd already given the kids breakfast i gave them both a bath, got them dressed and made them lunch. Should head into town in a minute to get a few provisions. Am rather worried that i don't have enough money to get back to Falmouth on Monday, and even if i do, i have nothing to live on.

I guess i'll see how easy it is to busk in Falmouth eh? wink

Wondering if Mojo will call today. Am determined not to call her.

Heh. She's probably waiting too, but with a bit of luck that won't happen. I think me avoiding all physical contact with the ladies would be a grand idea for a bit.

Unless it's Mojo. Obviously.

Have just knocked dinner together for the kids. I made a kind of stew thing. This is how it went:

5 spuds, 2 carrots, 1 parsnip, half an onion, all roughly chopped and chucked into a saucepan with a bit of hot oil in it. Sweated them down a bit then added two gammon steaks, chopped up. Then added 1 pint of boiling water and 4 spoonfuls of gravy granules. Simmered the lot for 15 mins covered, then uncovered it and whacked in two handfuls of frozen peas. 5 minutes more, uncovered and served it into some bowls.

Izzy has demolished the lot, but Rhe is only eating the carrot. Because apparently she no longer likes potato and peas, despite eating both of them nearly every day. I guess you could make it veggie by swapping the gravy granules for a couple of veg OXO cubes and leaving out the gammon. Kinda defeats the object though in this omnivores opinion.

I wonder if kids are like cats and catch their own food if you don't feed them. I don't think Rhe would notice.

Just got a phone call from Steve. He wanted to know if i want him to come over and bring dvd's and alcohol. I told him not to be so silly, and he said he'd be here in a bit.

Thom will hopefully come over as well.

And of course i hope Mojo comes over, but i guess that's up to her. Shame i can't do a vulcan mind-meld with her so she can see once and for all that i never cheated on her. Although i have a feeling it wouldn't make any difference to our situation and she'd still want to go and do her thing. Bless her heart.

For the record, Bryan Adams sucks ass, and can get his own damn intro thread if he thinks his life is in anyway better than mine.

Putting the whole "millionaire" thing to one side for a minute, that is...ubblol

I really want to go have a burn tonight, i have all week, but there's noone to babysit and the girls are still too little to stay up past dark watching Daddy spin.

Buggeration. Can't wait to get back to Fal and nick Brad's stick so i can learn doubles. Incidentally, many thanks to Dragon7 (you beauty) for this truly amazing staff site, not to mention of course the people responsible for it. Top work. (Can't do many of the moves, but it's the thought that counts. wink)

Have a great saturday night everybody, hope you all have a rockin time. Have a burn for me, wherever you are.

Ok. Tigercub, i'm glad you're not me, cos i'm having far too much fun being me to let anyone else have a go. tongue

Bird>> Haven't actually got any fuel, so i'm sticking in the front garden while Izzy poi's. Bless her, she was asking me if she's good enough to go busking yet. I told her that she would be one day, but she needs to develop from only doing the butterfly as fast as possible to, ya know, everything else.

Plan is forming to let her be the hat girl though, when she's a wee bit older. Probably double my money. biggrin

Fluff, you could never lose my respect, but you would temporarily earn my disgust and sneers. But for only about 5 minutes. Still, lucky you don't innit? wink

I actually quite like the guy, from the interviews i've read/seen with him he seems like a very down-to-earth, friendly bloke. Just wish he'd write better songs. He's Canadian too. (A good thing)

Oh well, off to my stick practice. If none of Tamsyn's windows are broken by the end of the evening, i'm doing well.

Boy oh boy.

Steve and Thom came over. Thom was knackered because he's been working nights, and was really stoned, so he only stayed for an hour or so. Played a bit of Vice City. Then Steve and I drank a large quantity of cider (and chocolate vodka mudshakes) and watched about 5 episodes of the West Wing. It's SO much better when you can watch them in sequence, straight after one another. Makes a lot more sense. You almost feel smarter as you watch it. smile

Must have gone to bed. Woke up there. Steve had cleaned the kitchen (what a beauty!) and left me the 2nd series of West Wing on dvd to watch, then send back to him. Result.

Time to get the kids some lunch, then i'd better get down to scrubbing the house clean in time for Tamsyn's return tomorrow.

Joy.

A thought occurs whilst hoovering:

Have you every noticed how easy it is to despise people when you group them together? As if the act of classification (regardless of grounds) is enough to strip a group of us of our humanity. Consider the following:

I hate men. I detest the "pack mentality" and the testosterone-fuelled machismo. I loathe the faux-aggression that most guys seem to find obligatory in every day interaction. I hate the way they assume slightly larger size gives them the right to possess and trade women like cigarette cards.

I hate women. I despise their attempts to control and manipulate all around them, whether consciously or not. I am continually disgusted by their willingness to debase themselves to acheive their ends. I hate the shared assumption that, despite being classed as equal in all ways, they are still somehow weaker, and should be treated with extra care.

I hate the British. They are xenophobic, racist and largely ignorant, obsessed with clinging on to the remnants of an empire that they lost control of a century ago. They are pompous and self-aggrandizing, and prostrate themselves at the feet of the US administration in order to receive scraps from that table. Manipulative and mercenary, they supply weapons to some of the worst dictatorships in the world, then echo the cry to make "war on evil". Hypocrisy is the greatest luxury.

Now, after all that, regardless of what emotional response reading it generated, surely you will agree:

A little generalisation can be a dangerous thing.
