ok i am posting to see what everyone thinks of this idea.
ok my plan is to have a big public show of me and other people doing fire poi at a local park. i was planning on have a friend of mine dj the event. my reason for doing this is everyone at my shool wants to see it abut nobody is ever around when i do it. so i thought this would probably be the easiest way. the cops and fire departments have already cleared me to do fire poi so i am ok there. i just have to talk to them about the music. anyone have any experience in doing something like this that could give me some advice?
also i was looking to see if anyone around the olathe, ks area would be intrested in joining in with me. i was planning on holding it late march when it started to warm up alittle bit.it would be a totally free sho so no money involved. just a good way to let people see what poi is. also i am kinda intresting in teaching people around here to do poi and i think this would spark a lot of intrest.
let me know if you have any advice or comments.

I've never done anything like this but will be combining a music/poi show/outdoor party during the summer so let me know how it goes!

That sounds like a cool idea. Our troupe goes out on campus and performs just for fun. Hopefully by the end of March it will be warm enough.
Just looked on mapquest and found out you are 4 and a half hrs away from us here in Still H2o. Maybe we could come and visit you sometime

im holding a similar party in the uk. mid august....
the situation is a little different as we have got the beach to do it on... i have sorted numerous djs, and to solve the problem of the police removing the djs, and tech equipment.... i have borrowed a 70ft sunseeker gin palace.... and the sets are going to be played from that.. about 50 metres ofshore!!!
how rude is that? we are working on the soundsystem but i know that we are going to throw a load of amps in and loads of speakers!!
so if anyone is in the bournemouth area in august come along.. the date is yet to be confirmed.... hahahaha

. the city clerk that told me i needed one didn't know anything about it so i am on my own. to get the permit i basically have to put in a request, get insurance on the event (still kinda curiouse on that one) and draw out a site plan. then i have to wait 14 days for a reply. that should give me enough time though to practice a lot more moves.
i think i have decided that i am going to hold the show on friday april 9. also i read the posts about people being intrested in joining in the show. if you are intrested i am trying to get a head count to see about size of spin area and also if anyone needs a place to stay here for the night so i can get that set up. so just let me know. my email is poi_spinner @ hotmail.com
