i am putting this in the intros as a way to re-introduce myself as i felt my first time was a bit pants and i lost the thread and, well it was just a bad effort... anyway this is where i am going to keep those interested informed as to my travels for the next 6 months and where i get to spin, who i meet and what i get up to in general.

so firstly to do the whole intro thing again for those i do not have the pleasure of knowing yet...

hello! wave
i am...

eleanor.
age 23
from london. but currently travelling round australia having just zipped round japan, then in a few months onto new zealand, then fiji and then north america.
fave film - the lost boys
fave animal - penguin

oh blah blah that will do for now! biggrin biggrin biggrin

SO............... ubbloco

The Adventure began in Toyama, Japan. The snow was up to my knees and yes I have photographic evidence of me spinning poi in snow this deep which I will post here as soon as I get to a computer able to cope with this (in other words - as soon as I find anyone more capable of using a computer to do it for me ubblol)

I went to Osaka, Kyoto, Nara and Tokyo following this, the most interesting things occuring being:

* getting lost absolutely every single day, usually for hours, but not really caring as it's a good way to see random back ends of cities.. ahem, that's my story and i will stick to it until the end... ubbangel

* making 'friends' in osaka with a japanese boy who followed me all round the zoo but got so annoyed at me for spending over 30 mins with the penguins, and still wouldn't leave me alone for ages even though we couldn't understand a word the other was saying.

* the weird weird tunes that the crossings play in kyoto when the green man (complete with top hat an pointy shoes, tee hee) comes on to tell you it is safe to cross. so bizarre.

* a ride called 'the 13 doors' at a theme park in tokyo which literally scared the [censored] out of me like nothing before. you get a key and have to wander round in the dark tripping over bodies on the ground, having things scream in your ear etc, and open doors with this key when you find them. urrrgh, such a freaky thing. even the 'kiddie' haunted house was enough to give me nightmares.

* going to see belle and sebastian in tokyo after sitting next to one of the band on the plane from london and making friends with them... this was fun and very strange, as going to shows in other countries often can be. guestlist place did mean front row seat of the balcony which was nice, and i hadn't anywhere to stay that night so a very nice american girl i met there let me share her (very nice) hotel room ubblove

the brain is tired so that is all i can think of for now.

NOW in mandurah, near perth, australia. it's SO warm. hurrah! biggrin had a quick spin in my friend's car park today and made a new friend who was fascinated by it which was cool. and going to stay with Gnor this weekend, cannot wait!!!! ubbrollsmile

that'll be all for now. i'll write again when there is more to tell, whenever that shall be. thanks to everyone who has sent me pms since i have left, it is so nice knowing you are still all out there to chat to. bye! hug kiss hug

Unfortunately, Ms Mand will have to fly to the other side of the pond early next week, and I'm planning on visiting her sometime this summer. biggrin

Well, that's true- I am flying back next week ubbcrying
But as for where I'm spending my summer... that's still slightly up in the air (at least in my mind!).

Hey, I've already walked out of my job once this season, to fly to Texas. I'm sure I can do it again (they may eventually stop giving me my job back though!). ubblol

Lets steal a spaceship and head for the sun, and shoot the stars with a lemonade ray gun.

I hear you dear! Yes, suddenly now I am passed the half way point of my trip I am starting to panic about the idea of having to do something 'sensible' ('real' job etc) when I get home so yesss, the idea of running away with you two for a little bit sounds very appealing! clap ubbrollsmile

Send me a pm and don't stress too much about whatever it is if at all possible... I'm just bumming around today packing etc and not doing much so am around for ranting at for sure. hug

Got to New Zealand... waiting around for my friend in Christchurch got frustrating (she arrives tomorrow morning though, phew) so I went to the Banks Peninsula for a night which was beautiful.

Other than that, a nice Israeli man is currently cooking me dinner and earlier on I got another star tattoo (my 14th!) behind my left ear biggrin and finished off the andean cross on my back too - hurrah! good stuff. tattoos are nice and cheap here biggrin biggrin

The Car / Campervan / Boring Backpacker Bus debate is still going on, but I will hassle my friend tomorrow into making a decision with me on how to get round.

STILL not been to visit HOP central but planning to either tomorrow or friday, raaah!

Mand + Kim - just wanted to tell you I was telling my friend the other day about your proposal (the one that involved me! haha.. you know what I mean...) and I am getting so excited just at the idea that it might possibly happen.....

bounce2BUNGEEEEEEE! bounce2

i did it, i jumped Nevis, the 134m highest bungy jump in NZ / second highest in the world, yay! so amazing, and it took about an hour of calming down for me to stop saying "let me go again, let me go again!" ubblol

so i am in queenstown at the moment, rented a car with my friend in the end which has been much fun so far. just got back from the shotover jet which was cool, and about to go up on the gondola and have some rides on 'the luge' (looks like a go-kart, not entirely sure though). planning on doing a skydive in a couple of days, hurrah!

had a dream about staying in the Jugglers Retreat hostel in Picton juggle which made me think to ask - has anyone here stayed there / know much about it? it looks cool anyway and i'm sure i will end up there when i get up to picton.

bye for now, from a suddenly very bungy-obsessed pengwino XXX

Is it the Truth?
Is it Fair to all concerned?
Will it build Goodwill and Better Friendships?
Will it be Beneficial to all concerned?
