I am going to make this a short one. I was in quite a strange and disillusioned mood even before i came in here and then i found out that all of the old introductions were gone! eek This is where all of 'old' poiers are rolling their eyes rolleyes at another novice, but i really thought that my intro was for ever. I spent a lot of time on that. I guess I should look at it as a second chance at spelling librarian. ubbidea
I started spinning when a girl from byron moved in and showed us poi one night. That was about 7 months ago, but i became a total addict for a month; driving my van to servo's at 4am in my army pants and a beanie, covered in ash and breathlessly asking the poor girl for "kero, i need lots of kero"...
I live in Townsville, which occasionally is frustrating (sorry, but North Queenslanders aren’t exactly known for there open-mindedness) and have travelled the world, but hardly seen the land around me.... such a shame...such a beautiful land. I am slightly restricted because of my pets (obviously wouldn’t swap it!), so consider this an invitation to any of you who promise not to try to kill me in my sleep to come and visit if you are up this way. ubbloco biggrin
I paint, meditate, read, and play bass in a jazz/blues band (which doesn't really make sense to me, love them both, but most people are either jazz or blues, they aren’t interchangeable). A Librarian and a Librian (for those who believe, and, much as i would hate for my science teacher father to know, i do). Sleep through the week, so i don't need to on the weekends....
I hate personalized number plates and scented toilet paper. Love houses that have been reclaimed by the trees and vines, and i love my friends (an amazing bunch that make me feel lucky that i was born here and now) my two dogs and duck, and fire, of course. Favourite books of the moment are Dharma Bums and Jonathan Livingston Seagull. Although one of the perks of working at the uni library is I can take home any of the books they throw out (wheelie bin full a week!!) so I have boxes of unread books… calling to me. Music is very important to me so i will finish with my favourites ; massive attack, thievery corporation, radio head, bob Marley, tom waits, aphex twin, Robert Johnson, beck, dj shadow, the pixies, hendrix..... (Forcibly tearing my fingers from the keys).
The latest way of amusing myself during the holidays is changing my sleeping habits. Haven’t fallen asleep before 5am for a few weeks. Love that time of night, and there is no way I am getting out of bed that early. Approach it from the other side. Falling asleep as the sun comes up.....

Why does practicing have to be
So different from preaching

One writer, Simon Vinkenoog, made headlines when he reported
after an LSD trip: ``I am feeling so much like bread''.

- in the words of Warren Zevon - "appreciate every sandwich."

I was always scared with my mother's obsession with the good scissors. It made me wonder if there were evil scissors lurking in the house somewhere.

Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons for you are crunchy and good with ketchup.
