Cool to hear about all the stitches and tumors and such (see Narr's "war wounds" thread). Peoples been through some serious stuff. Might be fun to pick out a few good times tho. Can't have the low without the high after all...

What are the 5 best life events you've experienced so far?

Here's mine, no order:

1. LIving in New York City. The other day I was walking to work and noticed a white stretch limo parked outside the parole office. I love this cracked out town. Even at 0F.

2. rowing. My stint on a crew was short but hard core. A big sport for a little girl. I was so fit I felt like a superhero. No jar lid was safe....

3. Skydiving and scuba diving. (I'll list them both under "diving") It's incredible to be so completely out of your element. I had the good fortune of attempting these in the Swiss Alps and Great Barrier Reef. Wow and wow.

4. working as a stripper. (Note 4a: NOT working as a stripper.)

5. Finding my "calling." Which is absolutely makeup artistry. I even have dreams about it. And it's especially funny since I *very* rarely wear any.

I like this thread... Makes you think about the things that define you...

1) Standing on a glacier in New Zealand as it starts to rain... For a aussie girl who is use to a dry, flat, and hot country, i had trouble getting my head around what my senses were telling me!!!

2) Making the decision, and following thru on getting elective surgery done to change something about my self that i'd never liked.

3) Getting made redundant - And discovering thats it's not the end of the world, that i can look after myself, that i'm employable, and don't have to stay in a job where i'm unfulfilled.

4) Learning that i'm not as weak/scared/sensitive/vulnerable as i've always been told - I can jump off mountains, twirl fire, travel on my own and that i'm only limited by myself - Where there is a will, there is a way biggrin

5) Booking a plane ticket to London, and a 37 day tour of 12 countries, and making the commitment to pack up all my stuff here, sell the car, quit the job and go where the wind takes me... beerchug

I smile because i have no idea whats going on!! biggrin

Ok here's my next 5....

1. Surviving the death of my dad. It was absolutely the worst and, not surprisingly, absolutely the best thing that has happened to me so far. I miss him every day but I changed so much in so many important ways.

2. I'll put all of my experiences in Australia in 1 category. I have a soul connection to that place. It's an amazing country with amazing people. Shut up about expensive airfare and go there.

3. Puff Daddy's VMA Afer Party 2002. Ja Rule, Michele Branch, Foxy Brown, Busta Rymes, Kirsten Dunst, Alicia Silverstone. And me. Let's talk about partying like a rock star. It was incredible.

4. Finding makeup. (If I listed this already it needs to be listed again.) I love makeup. I love that it's a "girl thing". I love the intimacy. I love making people feel beautiful. I love showing people a side of themselves they haven't seen in a while, or ever before. Down home fun.

5. Defining a spiritual practice. I tend not to talk about this very much because it makes me feel like a freak. Time to get over that I guess. There's not a lot I can do about being a freak anyway. But this has multiplied my happiness beyond anything I could even dream about.

NZ, and its great ability to replenish body and soul

i'm sure there are more. but how do you quantify your experiences? how can i say that no 2 in the list above is more important in terms of rob-shaping than, say, no 6?
