Posted: Hi.
I enjoy the smooth flow of Poi, it is something that makes me feel... (what?)... alive? Like it expands my awareness... It reminds me of doing T'ai Ji, but a mite bit faster and without any ulterior motives... The Poi are an extension of ourself, we are one with the Poi, they definitely expand our aura, as because they are our extension, they are part of our energy, which we are manipulating/melding through our experience with them.
The biggest aspect of myself that I focus on is increasing my understanding of the energy that we all are, and how to adjust my own (and others - I am a third year acupuncture student and I also practice energetic healing) energy into ever higher vibrational frequencies. I enjoy talking about all different kinds of perceptions of reality, who we truly are, what happens when we "die", that sorta thing... I think there is a reason for everything, that nothing happens by chance, that on some level we have all agreed to experience whatever it is that we are experiencing, that we are creating what we experience, and that we are choosing to perceive it in whatever way we are so doing. I believe in accepting everything that happens and not having any attachment to it, too, but rather just going with the flow of what happens...
So I came across Poi from out of the blue, and it is something that has taken me by storm, I enjoy it immensley, and I would love to get together with anyone else in Wellington, NZ if they are so inclined. Ah, but it feels so Good... (But then, that's just my perception......)
So maybe this helps explain to you a bit of who I am and where I am coming from.
Be well.
- Asharat.

I was always scared with my mother's obsession with the good scissors. It made me wonder if there were evil scissors lurking in the house somewhere.

Posted: Welcome to HoP, glad to see an other poi addict. Your description of poi and movement reminds me of Nick Woodsley's (Meenik) poi page: the venue, you should check it out; his philosophies seem somewhat similar to yours. Anywho, please feel most welcome to discuss your views of reality with us.
there is no better way to say I love you than with the gift of a spatula!

Posted: Thanks for the link, Soldari. So you want to know the things that I like? I really like nature. Flora and fauna are really special things. They make me feel really good. I like to do relaxing things like T'ai Ji and meditating and listening to ambient music. I used to really be into rock kinda stuff, like Peal Jam, Alice In Chains, Tool, etc. But the more I have evolved the less inclined I have been to listen to that, whereas now i prefer ambient chill music, you know? One of the bands I am listening to heaps of at the moment is Nightmares On Wax. But I do like house and jungle and drum'n'bass too, 'sjust I don't go out of my way to find and listen to music, if it comes my way, great, but as i said above, I rather just go with the flow and if I am supposed to have some kind of music then I trust that it shall make its way to me... I wear jeans and t-shirts. Plain clothes, I don't like crap all over them, you know, like words or designs etc... I like watching Survivor. It's the only reality tv that I will watch. Really, it's like the only show I actually watch... Don't have much time for that sort of thing... Same as music, really... I feel that there are other things that I would prefer to do, you know, like understanding the true nature of reality, the depth of being... So i live in Wellington, NZ, been here for two years, been married for just over one, am 24, leo, tiger, I have lots of cacti and succulents, one cat called Kamala (born of the lotus) who we got from the SPCA just after we got married. My wife is into the alternate therapy side of life, too, she is getting ready to study to become a midwife, she already has a degree in Health and Wellness. We are both really into health and being healthy etc... As well as doing my acupuncture I have just completed a two-year tuina-qigong course at the same school. Tuina being diagnostic chinese massage/acupressure therapy, and qigong being exercises that stimulate and enhance the qi (chi/energy) flow of your body. We are both vegan and eat organic food. Jamie is also wheat-free. We met on the internet in Sept 2001, she's from Ohio, USA. I like movies that make you think, like Pi, the cube, fightclub etc... Any questions? I don't really know what else to write, so if ya wanna know something, just ask me.... )
