Okay, so, yesterday was officially my first public spin- I entered in my school's talent show and got in. (First cause for jumping around in my retarded-style excitement).

So I go after two pro dancers- who happen to be so utterly fantastic I want to cry. They turn out the lights, put on some music, I switch on my beamers, and start off with some easy weaves. They all go absolutely NUTS! It was so INSANE! ubbloco I'm still shaking from the high I got just from their cheering...! (Second reason to dance around in little circles screaming in happiness). PLUS, it turns out it was being judged, and I won first place! But I didn't care about that. The people's applause at the end of my routine was cool enough to last for about two weeks of random grinning. People stopped me in the halls to tell me 'how cool it looked!' and ask me what 'those insane spinny things were'. weavesmiley ubbrollsmile

So, anyway, I'm sure you all needed to hear that. But I had to tell -someone-, and my friends at school don't understand how absolutely wonderful it is to be performing in front of such a receptive crowd as they were last night. Whoot whoot!

"But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.
"Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."
"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here."

that's awesome! congrats!

I was always scared with my mother's obsession with the good scissors. It made me wonder if there were evil scissors lurking in the house somewhere.

Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons for you are crunchy and good with ketchup.

I won a box of super-expensive (well, I think they are, they sure taste good!) chocolates, and a certificate for a free coffee tasting. (confused)

Have a chocolate if you like. They're Belgium. Wait... Did I spell that right?

*shrugs and passes around the chocolates*

Tell us more, tell us more! Well, at least, tell me more! What moves did you do, what music did you spin to? ((totally curious))

But I don't want to go among mad people, Alice remarked.
Oh, you can't help that, said the Cheshire Cat: we're all mad here.

The music was Sandstorm (that was the song playing when I first saw poi, so I ubblove it)... I didn't do anything too complicated- pretty much all variations of the weave, windmill/corkscrew, and butterfly... Oh, and a buzzsaw about halfway through. ^^ They went crazy for that one. All my friends thought I was going to nail myself in the face.. At least, that's what they said afterwards. weavesmiley

I just found out that my school is also having a talent show, and I was voloun-told to either do poi or play a jig on my violin... I don't think I'll do either, but I dunno... O.o'

Can't wait to come down here!! And if you can't make it, I'll go over there and kidnap you and bring you over here. I'd say you could live in my basement, but my brother does... ^^'

And send whatever you win to me... So I can sell it and buy my way down there! Yeah, that's right!

^^ I'm still working on convincing my mom to let me stay by myself in a hotel... 'Cause it turns out nearest relatives are about a half-hour from Halifax... frown So sad.

Sounds Cool. Is this a highschool or Junior High?

Ladies and gentlemen, this is not a trick, this is a stunt. The difference between a stunt and a trick is that a trick is something that tricks or fools the audience, a stunt is something that only an idiot would do -Ivan, Ash Circle, 10/04/03
