I've not tried using a forum before, so bear with me. I met some poi spinners over the summer and got addicted, now they've left me on this island alone. I thought this would be the best place to meet like minded people and keep learning stuff.
Although I don't believe in conformity Ive had a look at other peoples intros and figure the easiest way to do things is to steal other peoples categories and fill them in.

Name: Jessica
Sex: pretty obvious

Age: 23 (getting on a bit)

Location: Isle of Wight, England, It's the island at the bottom in the middle.

Occupation: Education Officer at the Isle of Wight Zoo, we got the biggest collection of tigers in the country, possibley europe. Lots of lemurs and reptiles too.

Toys: UV + LED poi (thinking of getting fire chains for xmas).

How long: Since about April this year so about 7 months I guess.

Hobbies: Spinning (obviously), play in a samba band, climbing, playing music and dancing, generally just causing havoc wherever I can.

Favourite movies: Orlando, Labrynthe, Singing in the rain, momento, waking dream, ghost in the shell.

Favourite TV show: love nature + science documantaries, Buffy (although i know its a bit sad its got to be better than eastenders)

Books: Discworld novels, Anne Mccaffreys pern and other stories, anything deep and philisophical by Milan Kundera (e.g. the unbearable lightness of being), 1984. Mainly science and fantasy.

Music: Even more ecclectic Im afraid. Love blues and reggae, belle + sebastian, early (real) indie, weezer, reef, system of a down, godspeed you black emperor, queens of the stone age, beth orton, rolling stones, nick drake, headmix. Love spinning to leftfield, massive attack, heddningarna or garmana.

Quotes: "fear is the mind killer, it is the little death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear, let it pass over me and through me and when I turn the inner eye to see its path only I will remain. I will not Fear" (or something very similar) Duke paul Atredes, Dune by Frank herbet. Also another favourite of mine and where my mum got my name from.

Favourite food: anything sweet, mainly chocolate based.

Least favourite foods: fungal genetalia (mushrooms), cooked tomatoes, most meat and anything with the texture of sick.

Favourite colour: purple or blue

Twirling so far: Got most of the basic moves, trying to get alternate butterfly thread the needle at the mo, normal call it contra-rotating crossover thread the needle here. Best moments so far probably going to a party and finding someone new spinning and getting my first go at spinning fire. Still get such a buzz at clubs or somewhere beautiful.

Thanks for the welcome guys. ubbrollsmile This is a great way to waste time while my boss is away, but nearly time to go home soon, the lions and tigers have started roaring which means its dinner time. Its a great alarm clock. Cats are'nt as cool as primates though, they just lay around all day and you can't play with them. Might be nice to meet up with you some time regyt, gosports not so far.

'ello! wave welcome to our lovely abode! hug we just had some redecorating and refurnishing done, so mind the construction equipment. please take your shoes off at the door. there are some lovely party games in the social discussion that are quite addicting. and just ignore the petty banter about whether the either/or thread should be back or not. biggrin if the old intro threads ever come back, please head on over to mine for some r-rated fun, or laytin's for some of the pg-13 variety. if they don't come back, be on the lookout for a new r-rated pounce thread. it will be there. biggrin

anywho, i'll be looking forward to chatting with ya somemore. enjoy your stay!

thank you thank you, pounce has been here

BTW, i hope you enjoy the mints i left on your pillow. those are complimentary. there are more snacks and lovely tasteful delights in other threads as well.

I was always scared with my mother's obsession with the good scissors. It made me wonder if there were evil scissors lurking in the house somewhere.

Sorry I didn't follow this up, I have been sans computor for a few days. Just for the record I think pink is cool as long as its not baby pink, closer to magenta than fluffy bunnies. My samba band is called raw samba, and to be entirely truthfull Im very new at it and haven't played any events yet. Not sure that I will get a chance either as their keen on me spinning instead of drumming.
Princess bride rules! I could never remember the name of that guys dad tho.
After so many of you saying nice things about tigers and monkeys we've actually recieved a complaint that our lions roar too loudly and we have to make the be quiet at night. Only way to do it is to sedate them or cut their vocal chords. How rediculous? But dont worry, we aren't doing either!

I say you rile the lions up at night for a couple weeks - really make them roar a lot. Then when you stop and things go back to normal, everyone will think you managed to quiet the lions down somehow! biggrin

Let the people complaining about the noise jump in and try to calm the lions down, if they like... tell them they can throw their shoes at them like at domestic cats, but they have to do it from inside the cage. wink
