Hello all. My name's Jesse. I'm currently outside of Ann Arbor, MI, but I'll be headed out to the Oregon coast in a few weeks. I've only been doing poi for a few weeks. My room mate at school introduced me to it. I love it because I've got rhythm and I love music, but I've never been a great dancer, but now I have a way of expressing myself to music (aside from playing and singing). Anyway, I've got some basic stuff down kinda well (3-beat weave, corkscrew, bf and mexican wave, etc...). I'm really pumped about the whole thing. Nice to meet ya.

Hello,
Welcome to HoP
So what are you studying in college and what do you play? Oregon coast is really beautiful. The tidepools there are amzing, but the water's way too cold to actually do anything in, if I remember correctly. Well, have fun!

Thanks for the warm welcome. I don't really have plans to try fire at this point, but I haven't thought too far ahead on this. So far I've been spinning with glowsticks I bought at Meijer on some shoelaces. It's been a nice, portable setup.
I'm studying Theatre at school with a focus in stage managing, though I'm looking to get into design and perhaps directing soon. I'm not studying music formally, but I sing and play hand percussion, as well as some bass guitar.
As for the name, Komainu are the Lion-dogs found guarding the entrances to many Shinto shrines in Japan, though they originated in China I believe.

I actually live in Dexter (home of the Michigan Militia, thank you very much). I'm actually a pretty big fan of the Ann Arbor area, but I'm looking forward to the change of scenery, especially that having to do with the Pacific.
