quote:hey, i just figured out how to do this, and if you do it right, you can make it spin like 8 times in front of you. it looks really cool. can you do it all the way across in both directions?

I double twirl and i can continuosly spin the staff through my fingers in both hands (but only in one direction). From my view if the staff is in front of me, the way i can spin is, clockwise in my left hand and anticlockwis ein my right. It's not like i can not get any spins the other way, it's just that i can't get continious spins. Just wondering if anyone can spin contiously both ways with no troubles.

If we as members of the human race practice meditation, we can transcend our fear, despair, and forgetfulness. Meditation is not an escape. It is the courage to look at reality with mindfulness and concentration. Thich Nhat Hanh

Going with the spin counter-clockwise infront of you I suggest just trying this: Hold your staff horizontal between your index and your middle finger, push down with your middle finger and get it spinning. You spin it over your middle finger, get the staff under your ring finger, push it down and guide it so it goes back between your middle and index finger. If it doesn't have enough momentum to go around again, catch it with your and use your thumb to increase the momentum (carefully though, or else it looks uneven as noted before). You'll either have to use your pinkie or your thumb to adjust for slip--where you don't evenly spin the staff so you start going towards one end or the other. Now to go clockwise just reverse the movement you had, but use your pinkie to push it instead of the thumb--to make that look smooth and consistant you'll need to slightly drop your hand as it reaches your pinkie, much like a contact staffer uses their body movent to continue the spin of the staff, in this case you have to use your hand movement slightly to keep the staff going.
but it works for keeping it going. I suggest doing a *lot* of normal finger spinning both ways before you try to do it continuously. It's tough or your poor fingers
Just practice with what my mentor used (and what I learned on.

At a solid 20lbs if you can learn to finger spin (or spin it period) a normal staff is easy! :P Just don't hit yourself with it
