Not very complicated, or anything, but I like it.
Start a forward figure 8 type thing in the wall plane. When the staff comes in front of you, stick your leg out straight as if you were going to pass the staff underneath.
Feed the staff somewhere close to your knee and let it roll over the top of your leg.
Before the staff rolls all the way over, rotate your leg around the outside of your body and kick out backwards. The staff should be rotating over the back of your knee by this point.
When you kick out backwards, try to keep your leg as horizontal as possible. The staff should pop up behind you. Turn and catch it.
Keeping your leg horizontal on the kick should prevent you from launching your staff into your neighbours' garden

Hmmm, launching a flaming staff into a nursery school full of screaming children.....I can see the advantages in that....

Actually I got a foot-to-foot move.

I call it the cancan. staff comes under the left leg from the inside and is contacted ontop of the thigh (vertical). The staff rolls across the leg and down it to the foot which flicks it off. In the same instant swap feet so the left foot is on the ground and the right foot comes up to catch the staff.

Been to busy trying to land it to work out what comes next but im shure theres more where that came from.

Have fun,

N

I've been trying to play with that foot to foot, can't quite seem to get it right. Does it roll down the leg as its coming over the top?

I've also been trying something very similar - roll over the top of the leg from the outside, as it begins to drop, jump and switch legs. In theory, this could lead into the throw, but so far I've only succeeded in rolling over the leg and then kicking it halfway across the garden

I'm having fun with contact leg stuff! Far easier to picture the moves than to pull them off, though. I'm getting the throw somewhere between 1/2 and 3/4 of the time now. A little fine tuning and I'll have it consistant enough for fire. It helps a lot if, once you have the feel of the staff as it goes behind, you don't watch the staff, but lean forward a little. Makes the kick easier, and you can get quite a lot of height on the throw.

The throw should work quite nicely from Glass' Lynx thingy. Haven't pulled it off yet, but I got pretty close a couple of times, and for about 10mins playing, that suggests it can be done.
