Thanks, for a while I thought I was just stupid for trying cuz I didn't even know if it was physicly possible. I hadn't heard of anyone doing it before either.

Now, if I could just figure out what the hell people are on about when they're talking about this "shotgun" move..............

Yay SICKPUPPY!....

(I'm a little confused, though. Is this with one or two staffs? If its one, how do you define 'weave')

whoo! cool.

same questions as charles. i don't know how to better define teh shotgun other than that it is a rotor.... i think 360 in front of you and 540 behind, but i'll see if i can find a way to break it down better later.

What I call a BTB weave with a staff uses one staff, spinning 360 to the left and right of your body. Hand with the staff goes behind your back then passes to the other hand, spins then repeats to the other side and so on.
I only call it a weave because it is exactly the same hand movement as a reverse BTB weave with poi. Can also be done forwards, which I found a lot easier to nail than with poi

Its a fish!

Nice one mate.

I love this move, especially for dancing with, turning from backwards to worwards and back feels really weird but looks funky as.

unless your talking about double staff, in which case im intruiged, how?

No, I don't use doubles. I didn't know it was even possible to do the weave with doubles.

Jim nailed it though, I call it a btb weave because that's what it is in poi terms.

woo, holy sh!t, for a second i thought you were able to pull your shoulders out of your sockets and flail your arms around, as i think would have to be done to do btb with doubles...

but yeah, the btbt with single staf is a very nice move and it feels much smoother than btb with poi...

I like that move a lot, although I find it hard sometimes to come into it real smoothly. What I usually do is come into it spinning backwards and the do a 180 degree turn. Its weird because you when you turn into it the staff doesn't move, only your body does. I hope my depiction is clear.

as you do more staff youll realise that most tricks are a matter of moving your body around the staff, rather than the other way around this is especially true of contact.

Thats very true Nix.

I think a lot of the problems I used to experience with the staff came from trying to force the staff where I wanted it. The I realized no,no, no you can't do that. Its the other way around for sure. You move around the staff. As soon as I realized this, the staff and I got along much much better. I learned to love the staff even more too!
