been playing around with a few odd throws like elbow to other elbow(flatspin).... get into it from btb pass(horizontal onto the back of the hand, contact roll round the hand and arm into the crook of the elbow then throw round and above the head passing to the other elbow....
also some others, elbow to same hand(vertical) and one or two foot throws(bit sketchy tho)...

any others i should be trying?

"should" is a very strong word, personally, I don't thgink any of us "should" be playing with fire

But, aside from that, palmspin throw to palmspin catch in the other hand.

Forarm wrap to forearm throw.

Fingerspin throw, catch between thumb and forefinger.
then
Fingerspin throw, catch between forefinger and ring finger
then
Fingerspin throw, catch between ring finger and pinky.

Leg bounce - well it sortof a throw, like a hacksack move off the thigh...

Self throw - keep the staff still and throw yourself upwards (can you tell I'm thinking these up?).

ankle/calf throw - just like the flip-up with a juggling club...

is that enough for the moment...?

Interesting one resulting from an accident going horribly right. extend arm in front of you with elbow slightly bent, staff held with palm upwards grip, flat & parallel to ground, let the staff go & roll it down your arm towards you until it reaches your elbow joint. Snap your arm back to straightness so you kinda bounce the staff into the air & catch it. Note: I have only successfully completed this twice, both times when totally relaxed & holding an unlit staff

once you catch in vertical elbow catch a simple snap of the arm will propell it up, be carefull to get your arm outta the way tho...

should be able to flick it off the back of the neck I suppose...

rozi thats my bouncy "move outta the way!" trick!! used to normally do when very relaxed but i use it all the time now.

thing is though, learnt with quite heavy staff then transferred it to glow staff. Put it this way, it bloody FLEW!!!

i like doing that off my wrist too, wrist wrap to actual bounce off the bone (warning, only do this with glow staff or extremly well padded staff... aluminum hurts!)

ahaaaa. nix you clever boy....,
imagine you are doing that pleasantly cheesy trick with a foot(or even juggling)ball where the ball is thrown high and you catch behind the neck and throw it back up again.... now i am not suggesting trying this with a staff cos broken necks are hard to heal....but if you are doing contact rolls up your back and round the neck(if anyone wants an explanation ask me or nix) then as the staff passes round your neck flip upp as you would with a ball.. tried with 1m50 staff and got about 1m in the air...but with extralight 1m staff about 4....tasty manouver(how do you spell that word?)

yo,

hadda go atta throw from elbow and back vertical and yes a Whack was wrought on my backside but not to be disuaded I tried again

like to try and curl my arm around the staff midair to catch in elbow type grip, this has developed into catching the staff onna back of the hand (dont ask how, I dont know till it happens) and guiding it under the arm.

Haveing muchos fun seing how long I can go without grasping the staff in my hands. Lovely horisontal roll from shoulder along arm swept back to top of forearm and onto palmspin. v nice.

Love

Hey rozi i was doin sumtin like that today, only i rolled it form my shoulder all the way to my wrist and then popped it off.... it's wicked fun. i just learnt a few other no-handed throws today too... and then i see this... lol! what else is fun is sort of catching it balanced partly on your calf and the back of your knee (ur leg is sideways off teh ground) and then popping it up from there....

so, how do you get it to your foot anyway? I pop it off my foot after i drop it to pick it up again, and also off the side of my foot sometimes if i'm bored, but it hurts if i let it fall on my foot... so how to get it there nonpainfully?

How do you start the shoulder one, usually? I can picture what you are doing, but not how you start it, & I would love to try. It sounds v funky!!

well, you *could* start it out of a neck wrap, either full or three quarters. but i'm not that talented yet, just a cool idea....

I either bring a spin from btb over and just sort of "leave it" **edit** (by leave you could either pass it over to your shoulder withe the hand that comes behind, bring it through with something in front and put it on the opposite shoulder (i usually don't but i can see it working... i'll go try in a few.. or you could prolly flick it up to the shoulder taht belongs to teh hand.... i haev to go try taht one too...)) on my shoulder as i'm bringing it around, or i bring it down from an over head helicopter, this one is hard to make smooth IMO cause you have to let it drop to your shoulder w/o hitting anything... and of course it generally works better if it's centered... got a decent roll once even tho it was off center tho.... tho i got a lot of bad ones too... oh well new moves are fun eh?

ok, further thoughts on that....

flicking it up with the same hand works pretty well and can be done from a lot of moves. and one thing to be careful of if you pass it all the way btb to ur othr shoulder is getting it too far off center....

also, i noticed that the faster i'm spinning, the less likely i am too get the right flick off my wrist, and the more likely it is to roll off of my hand..... and fall.

Try to do just plain elbow rolss with each arm, rolling over the elbow, then down the arm and into the hand. Then try rolling over just your elbow and catching it. Then instead of catching it with your other hand, go right into another elbow roll, so you are continually doing elbow rolls from one elbow to the other. It is much easier to work vertically with elbow rolls, until you are working on moves on the back of your neck, even then it doesn't spin completely horizontal, it's almost a butterfly type motion.

You can toss from your elbow in between elbow rolls. Do an elbow roll toss, single spin, than catch (either in hand or on elbow into another set of elbow rolls.
