Ok, now this is slightly unbelievable.
Right after my previous post, I was hunting around for any other resource for finding other locals, and happened across the "Poi Spinning" book by Michal Kahn.
After perusal, I figured, hey what the hell, Michal is a local-sounding name, maybe she's been here, or knows someone from around here, so I drop her an email.
Less than ten minutes later, she writes back that in 2 days, she's coming to Israel, and is enthusiastic about meeting up!
Wow!
