That's cool. I got Happy2bHardcore 1 and had to get the whole damn set (1-5). Stupid collection, they do it on purpose, so they make more money. It's all good. See you tonight.Eric

Good for a girl?that seems strange, all the best poi'ers I have seen have been girls..I know a girl that did an unintentional double wrap around her neck with chain poi, and got 3rd degree burns..be careful, poi are dangerous if you don't know what you are doing.

No serious fire injuries just yet apart from some singed hair. But last night my freinds managed to coax me into giving them a beaming poi show (I was slightly drunk) bad idea, and yes I hit myself. Now the law of averages dictates that the poi will at some point come into contact with your body but three times with beaming poi got a bit painful. Today I can hardly put pressure on my left leg. I have a HUGE bruise on my right shin, and whilst doing windmill I lost it and wrapped them around my face and my nose is swollen and I look daft coupled with a slight hangover and a messy house that needs tidying I feel like a complete tit....Well it wont stop me but there will be no more drunken poi shows from now on grin

C'mon baby light my fire

Gasoline??? SH*T! Do NOT USE GASOLINE! Even if you aren't drunk. And please please please don't post any comments saying you have used it , or someone else has used it. It's the most dangerous fuel amateurs or professionals could ever use.And here's the scariest thing, it's easily available to practically anyone, a ten year old kid reading this site could just get his dad's jerry can, go down to the petrol station and get 10 litres. And when it does explode, in even a slightly restrictive container, the container can explode and send shrapnel and stuff anywhere. For the the safety of anyone who has access to the internet (you all know how many people and kids that is), please don't post anything about gasoline/petrol/91/diesol unless it is saying how cancerous, dangerous, toxic, flamable, explosive and uncontrollable it it.Anyone who disgrees can click on the letter icon above this post and send me an email, nasty or otherwise. I'd rather get hatemail for the rest of my life than think I was responsible for people dieing from using petrol as a firedancing fuel.I beg everyone to think about this and send any replies to me, no more posts on gasoline at all.We all have to be aware that there are lots of young children and low intelligence adults who visit this site without ever posting, it's not just us on here.Let's keep this board safe and fun...------------------Charleshttps://juggling.co.nz

Fuegolo, I would like to first express my sympathy for your friend. How aweful. I would also like to say that in the interest of safety (and everyone here knows I am a safety shrew) I think it really does set a prime example as to why gasolene should not be used anywhere near what we do.You commented on gasolene being sfae if you know how to use it, but alas, for spinning htis is not true. Gasolene actually creates toxic fumes when it is on fire. So even if you are able to create the flame without the explosion, and without burning yourself it is still highly toxic and dangerous. Gasolenehas a low flashpoint, which means even the fumes are flammable. It burns at a high temperature making burns pretty much inevitable, and as I said toxic fumes billow forth from it. For the art of fire play there is pretty much no safe way to use it. I do thank you for adding the plight of your friend to this, only because it serves as a reminder.------------------Pele Higher, higher burning fire...making music like a choir...https://www.pyromorph.com

Hi Miss Frog 19 !I beleive when I post this message you've allready lit up with Myst and Pozee and i sure think you have cool teachers winkhope you enjoyed yourself !Don't forget to protect your hair, that is for sure. Be safe but don't be affraid to hit yourself with burning poi if you are wearing the correct clothe (cotton, leather etc... see previous threads).I personnaly never had any bad burns. I just had to have a new haircut once because I was'nt wearing proper material on my hair, and i burnt my eyebrows with some BTB stuff , legs and arms slightly "shaved" by flames too ... and have a chain pattern burn now on my arm like cow branding, you know ? but that's because of wraps around the neck.Listen to the more experienced fire people around you, don't do it alone and most of allENJOYshine onCassandra

In about 12 sessions with fire over the 5 weeks I have been twirling, including the first day, I have only lost a bit of hair from legs arms etc. I even played fire hacky which didn't even burn all the hair off my foot. When it's dropped you have to pick it up with your hands and it doesn't even hurt. But I have twirled with a very safety conscious crowd who don't do stupid stuff or twirl drunk, although we haven't had wet towels or anything. Having said that, I've also seen some decent scars on people too.I have found that practising new moves with my tennis ball poi has given me more injury than fire poi. Especially learning the butterfly which had me beating my balls with great force dozens of times before I got it down. Nothing like repeated testicular trauma to motivate you to get the trick right. shocked I'm trying to learn the btb weave and my ankles are copping it. I also experimented with poi ropes about 4 foot long and twirling either with hands above the head or while standing on a bin or something, and while it looks really cool, those poi hit with some speed when they do.------------------Your parents were wrongFire is good Play with fire

I know this is a bit off topic and yes I am a dumbass but the gasoline story reminded me of when I accidentally drank chain saw fuel (gasoline + oil) two years ago. It was in a Coca-Cola bottle and looked like Coke and I was VERY thirsty. I took 3 huge gulps b4 I realized what I had drank. Hallucinations were way worse than any acid or shroom trip and I was drunk and nauseous all day. Noone could have an open flame near me for 48 hours and when I burped (which was often) I cleared out the whole house! On the up side, the oil coated my stomach and prevented more serious damage. Hope this serves as a warning of how poisonous and dangerous gasoline is.

Burns.. I have had lots of those... not major ones of course but the occasional wrap that was just left there a second too long (which isn't that much when you've been playing with your toys for more than an hour constantly.)Oh, and I have nailed myself in the centre of my forehead a few months into twirling... it went straight through my skin and trimmed tiny hairs near my hairline. I met someone a little while ago who said she'd done that to the same spot. smile Golden Seal salve got rid of the mark pretty damn quick... its magic on broken skin. Most of my burns I have accumulated without noticing and only discover them when showering after. It's too much fun eh?

AHHH I HAVE THE WORST INJURY EVER! I can't even spin till it heals.. I busted out with some double fireball long chains. My hands weren't rdy for it. Opened up blisters on both of my main fingers... Then to top it off I went on a glowstickathon today. Spun for about 15 hours at verious places and citys. Needless to say my other fingers wern't rdy to be spun like that on. I've ended up opening blisters inside of just about every gap of my fingers. On the brightside when this does heal... I'll be rdy for burning man grin Hehe spin for a week straight... Ahhhh... Bringing back an oldie, but a goodie.

I would have to say my worst injury was about a month ago, spinning fire to a live set by DJ Dara. I was coming up from some ground work, standing up from a sitting position. As I stood, the 2 poi were in a horizontal one handed butterfly above my head. One wick caught the other, bounced off my forehead, but I managed to pull them back into the butterfly again. I went on with my set, only noticing later that I had blood running off of my face and in my eyes. I had my safety put the wicks out, and went to the side to bleed for awhile. I don't get lightheaded or naseaus (sp?) from donating a pint of blood, but I was definately both that night. Makes me wonder how much blood I actually lost. Oh well, I went on the spin another 4 sets that night, despite the fact that I should have been at the hospital.

before SickPuppy (sorry, don't remember caps on da name) comes & does it, here's what i thought would be a recent related post tiamat started, but its replies turned out to be a series of links one by one by Puppy to previous injury threads, so here's the master link to Puppy's links if anyone feels full of this meal before this one (i'm not, life and injuries keep happening, and it's good to hear them):

and maybe my personal reply here will get me some guesses at the conundrum about my own burns i sent out one wee hours when hardly anyone was up, my answer will be my answer to this thread, MiSsFrOg:

oh, being new to poi as a form, i'm sure i have more, and more impressive ones to come.
