hey lovely spinning peeps,
i just wanted to ask if there are anyother left handed ppl out there having trouble. im finding the reverse weave a bitch-arss move to do, so i kept avoiding it but now i cant progress without it.
now i know theres been loads of threads about this but everyone keeps talking about doing the movements but righthandedly and im so confused because my right hands a lazy dumb arss and my left has no idea (nice personification of limbs)
so if anyone has any idea how to approch this one lefthandedly , purrrleaze save me from the perminant black eyes im getting

love you lots and jellytots

Wah!!! Very sorry, I actually originally made a post that answered a completely different question. Silly me!!!

Okay, I always had probs with the weave, so I may not be the best to describe this, but I will give it a burl. I am also not a leftie-handee, so I may get scatter-brained.

All I can suggest is getting some nice poi personage to show you direct. My apologies again for my confus-edness

Okay, here goes nothing. Once again, if this makes no sense, make sure that some nice poi-personage cures your confusion.

I would usually start with both hands on my right hand side, so lets do the opposite. Start with both hands on your left hand side. To get some momentum to start & to help you figure out the direction of the circles, rock both hands gently so the poi swing towards you, only a little bit. when they start swinging back (like a pendulum), begin the first circle with your right hand by exaggerating the swing in that direction and making it into a circle. Start the circle with your left hand a moment later. The circles should be now going anticlockwise.

I am guessing that you know how to do the normal weave already, so you know how the timing feels etc, it is just a matter of the direction of the circles, and how to start. I hope this helps

please ask questions and I will see if I can confuse you further.

Darling Rozi, always helping everyone.

Honestly I don't see what being left-handed really has to do with it, other than taht you haev to take ur right hand aside and make it learn things on it's own the way most of us take our left hands aside and do the same. I remember reverse weave made more sense once i got it and a lot less while i was trying to learn it... there's something about the way that you cross the poi that takes some getting used to.

Spend time doing the move with each hand individually, especially ur right hand, two circles on teh left, one on the right, repeat ad infinitum.....it really does help

I'm left handed too and know exactly what you're going through.
What I did was to put loads of time into spinning a single poi in my right hand to build up the strength and co-ordination. I found playing with a yo-yo helped a fair bit too.

But there's no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

As all poi moves are symetrical handedness shouldn't make a difference - one hand will always be your enemy

Being generally unco-ordinated I spent ages spinning only one poi at a time, making sure my hands (espically the left) knew what they were doing before using both hands at once. Better than the 'just go for it and get hit' approach which some people seems to like so much. More of an incentive to get better, quicker I suppose!
