Hi all... I am a complete newbie to poi, fire twirling and anything/everything related. In fact, I'll only even see it in real life for the 1st time next Friday (making it down to the Moon Fest on north side of Brissie).
Anyway, this is me...

Occupation(s): Computer Programmer. Worked for myself from home for 2 1/2 years, but have recently had to get a "real" job.

Toys: Acoustic guitar, Classical guitar, 3 electric guitars, 2 djembes.
Hobbies other than the obvious: Music, Reading, Keeping fit (hmmm, not so much of the keeping fit, actually)
Education: Did Bachelor of Science majoring in Computer Science and Pure Maths. Then Grad Dip Appl Computing... then started a research masters, but gave it away when life got in the way.
Favorite Book(s): Have to get back to you on that one... The Anarchist was the last book I read, quite liked it.
Favorite Movie(s): Lots... Fight Club, Snatch, Lock Stock..., Finding Nemo, Pulp Fiction, Pay It Forward...

mmm, haven't eaten @ all yet today... steak'n'chips sounds great!! *knife and fork @ the ready*
gidg: ex-actly... I rode a motorbike for the 1st time after I'd turned 30 (and fell straight in love with it)... fire twirling this year @ 36 (and fell straight in love with that too)... thinking about starting gymnastics again with some mates... I started an adult gymnastics class without ever having done it before last year, but could only go for a few weeks before work got in the way... went and did it myself last year, but this time, if it happens, I'll be turning up with a bunch of 17-23 year olds... I reckon if doing gymnastics with a bunch of guys, all of whom are over 10 years younger, some half my age, can't kill me, nothing will... as for ballroom dancing? yup, you're really pushing the envelope there...

nope... not till I was 30... my boss and a couple of the other guys @ work @ the time were mad keen weekend warriors on their bikes... inspired me to try... I just never had an opportunity to ride when I was a kid...
took a couple lessons, loved it straight up, got my learners and a bike and off I went...

Aww...poor baby!
I used to ride when I was younger. Kind of gave it up after I had to come second to my husband's (now ex of course) dirt bike. Sort of soured me on the whole deal. I must admit that it's quite a feeling tooling along in the open air.
I always did prefer to 'ride' rather than 'drive' one, though.
Much easier to enjoy the scenery.

I would love to get another bike but there are two draw backs.
1. I don't have a place to store it during bad weather.
2. Bad weather is 9 months out of the year.
There is no joy riding a bike when it's poring down rain.
