Ok, I hate all of you. mad

I swim 4-5 kilometers a day (yes, KILOMETERS), I spend all day on my feet running around and yet I eat next to nothing and if I even so much as WALK PAST a candy bar, I put on weight. rolleyes

I managed to lose 50 pounds about 3 years ago and let me tell you, it was like trying to keep the sun from rising to keep that needle on the scale moving down and not up. I did it only because I'm a stubborn, catankerous bastard, but I did it.

Just all of you wait until your metabolisms catch up with you. spank

I will actually be happy when that day arrives. It really sucks to be hungry every 2-3 hours.

I eat yogurt and cereal for breakfast at 7:30am. Then I'm hungry by 9:30 at the latest, so another granola bar, only to be starving for lunch by 11:30. Repeat in the afternoon. I'm starving again by 5:30. Not fun!

A few months ago I went on a business trip with several of my bosses. I was at lunch the last day and was talking to one of them. I was worried about eating enough at lunch to last me until I could get home at 9:30pm. You see, we were flying southwest and had 2 stops before arriving home. I ate 10 packages on peanuts on those 3 flights, and I absolutely hate peanuts. Then, when I finally did get home, I was super bitchy at my boyfriend of the moment because he had cooked me a fancy fru-fru dinner when I was starving and really just wanted something with substance. I absolutely hate fast food, but for some reason I crave a Jack-in-the-box sourdough jack then....go figure.

So, yes, I would love have to worry about eating less. Actually, the only way that I can tell when my thyroid meds are at too high a dose is I have to eat even more often...just very frustrating (can ya tell?)

ubblove sorry for the rant ubbangel

Ugh. I have a metabolism that's like trying to pour molasses.. I'm too distracted to eat much, I tend to get involved in work or projects and forget meals, I can go for long periods of time in between meals without even noticing, I bounce around all the time, and I still stay at the same weight. I wear jeans from high school. I am doomed to be short and curvy forever!

Sigh.

(Admittedly, if I were sufficiently motivated by dislike of my figure, I'd do something more extreme about it, like exercise actively instead of just bouncing about for fun. But so far, that hasn't seemed cost/benefit to me. This is a conscious decision.)

Spritie, you take thyroid meds? I take adrenal meds. Did you feel as guilty as I did when first starting long-term hormone-adjusting meds? I was absolutely convinced my personality was going to change by going on mine... it's been a few years, and I still worry over it sometimes. (Fears based on the memory of going on the pill, which made me cry uncontrollably at the weirdest and mildest of stimuli.)

Nah, I didn't feel strange about taking them. Maybe it's because they are a fake hormone to replace one my body can't produce though that makes it ok with me. I also understand why my body needs them (so I don't get a goiter or worse stuff happen to me).

Luckily, neither that med or birth control pills give me mood swings. I can certainly understand why people would dislike them for that reason.

Spritie, maybe you are on too much thyroid meds? Or maybe you have a malabsorption problem? Ever had your blood sugar checked? Could you be diabetic? Ever kept a food log and a calorie count for a day?

Actually, lately I've been hungry all the time, but I lost two pounds just since Saturday. And I've been eating like a pig.

If this keeps up, I'm making a doctor appointment. While I'd love to be able to eat all I want and never gain weight, it's a bit alarming when that suddenly starts at age 25.

My thyroid meds are where they are supposed to be - I got checked a month ago (I've only been on them a year and a half, and I was exactly the same before I went on them actually). I've also been checked for diabetes three times in the past two years, so I doubt I developed that in the past 4 months either.

What's a malabsortion problem?

I've kept food logs for my migraines before, but not calorie counts...How would you do that for food you make that isn't packaged (I'm talking about lunch and dinner)? Do you know of a good website with such info?

I've been at the same weight (give or take 5 pounds) since I was 16 which was 13 years ago...

Malabsorption is where food isn't being absorbed properly by the intestine. Generally, you'd be having a lot of large, soft, loose, greasy stools if that were the problem.

I'm sorry, was that a bit gross? ubblol
