Where: Brandeis University, Waltham, MA
Cost: NOTHING
We will be running an intermediate/advanced poi workshop for those spinners interested in taking their art to the next level. The workshop will run from 1-5pm, with time for learning, practicing, and jamming. There is no cost to attend, so come! Learn! Be inspired!
The focus will be on the aesthetics of poi, transitions, and movement.
Topics that will be covered include:
Buzzsaws
Groundwork
Pendulums
Under the legs
Footwork
Partner poi
Aerialwork
Behind the back

Useful info:
The event is being held in the Hassenfeld Conference Center, visible from the road, with parking available in H-lot. Turn left at the Main Gate and follow the main road until you reach the do not enter, with the pond on your right, and a parking lot on your left. That is H-lot. From there walk towards the pond, and you will see a dining hall on your right. Enter it (Sherman Dining hall) and go up the stairs. Turn right again and we will be in the large room opposite from the Stein restaurant.

DIRECTIONS to Brandeis Univeristy (in Waltham, Mass.):

From the Massachusetts Turnpike (which is also
Interstate 90) heading Westbound:
Take exit 15 for I-95/Rt 128 and Route 30.
There will be a toll - try to get as far to the right
as possible. Exit off to the right to get onto
I-95/Rte 128. Proceed a few hundred feet and the ramp
will fork - stay to the left (you want I-95/128
**NORTH**). Go slowly - next exit comes quickly!
After this, take your **IMMEDIATE** next exit to the
right (RT-30 W exit- EXIT #24- toward WAYLAND). Once
on the exit ramp, stay in the left lane. At the
traffic light, take a left. A few hundred feet later,
there will be another traffic light - take a right
onto River Road. In a half mile, you'll pass a well
lit building - (the headquarters for 102.5 FM) on your
right.
River Road then automatically turns into South Street.
The main entrance to Brandeis will be on your left in
another mile. Take this left, and you'll see a white
security shack. Pass the shack on your right. Go
SLOWLY - lots of speed bumps. Proceed to the next
stop sign and continue straight.
Parking is available in H-lot.

Take exit 14 for I-95/Rt 128. After the toll, keep left for 95/128 North. While on ramp,
exit immediately onto exit 24 for Route 30. Bear left onto Route 30. Turn right at first
traffic light onto River Road. Follow this for 1.5 miles, where it turns into South
Street. Brandeis is 0.5 miles ahead on the left of South Street.
****************FROM THE COMMUTER RAIL (the T):
Commuter train service is available from Boston's
North Station. Take the Fitchburg / South Acton line
to the Brandeis/Roberts Station.
Schedule online at www.mbta.com/ (select
Commuter Rail, then Fitchburg line, then look at the
Weekend Outbound schedule).
When you arrive at the station, you have a mile walk
to us. First, carefully cross the street and walk up
the hill towards campus (it's a half mile walk).
You'll see the main entrance on your left. Take this
left, and you'll see a white security shack.
