Hi there, my name is Nick and I live in the South-East of London, just where it turns into Kent. I'll be 44 in May this year and decided to take up Poi, having watched a couple of friends get into it over the last couple of years. I was given my first pair of socks and tennis balls last week and am a complete n00b, but looking forward to having mastered a few tricks by the end of the year.

Other than that, professionally I'm into lights and lighting and in the summer months can be found rolling round London with the Wednesday and Friday Night Skates. I've also had an on-off relationship with Tae Kwon Do since 1990, which is currently "on".

Edited to add...

I'm looking for classes / short introductory Poi courses in the London / Kent area. If anybody knows or hears of any, could you please let me know?

Favorite Book: Diary of a Nobody

Favorite Music Artists/Composers: Pink Floyd, general ambient stuff

Hey there Nick, i love the 'solar bear', brilliant!!!

I see you've already found the 'events, performances & gatherings' section of the forum: if I were you I'd just meet up with the London juggling crowd and learn from them rather than take official courses - cheaper and more fun!

Also, take a look in the 'videos' section for inspiration.

Enjoy your stay here on HoP!

everyone's unique except me

My state of mind is not yours to define!

There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."

Absolutely LOVE your attitude Nick and welcome to HoP!

Growing old is mandatory; growing up is NOT.

Thank you all for the warm welcome smile I don't think I've ever had this many replies to an introductory post before.

Things are going fairy well so far, I've more or less got the basic butterflies sorted (along with a couple of things I worked out for myself) and will be tidying them up until Easter before moving onto turns and some other intermediate stuff.

It may stop, but it never ends.
