FlameChild - Bringing fire and poi to Norway

Alright!
First off, I regged at Hop over 3 years ago, so this introduction comes kindoflate.
But better late than never.

Here we go.
My name is Henning Starholm. I'm born in Oslo 10th of February 1985.
At the age of 4 I moved out to a lovely village called Røyken (which means "the Smoke" in norwegian).

Guess you see where this is headed. biggrin

There I spent my childhood chasing cats, climbing trees, falling down, and all the other usual kid stuff.
So at the age of 15... something happend.. something I never saw coming..
I got pubic hair!!!
No.. wait.. that's not it..
What happend was that I discovered an alternate use of the string in glowstick-bags and the wonders of glowstick-spinning.
In one night, I hit myself 156 times (yes, I counted... and yes, I still remember). My elbows and arms were black and blue of bruises.

The day after I asked the almigthy google on the topic glowstick spinning.
And that, led me here. To you guys..
I followed the online lessons to the max, tried and tried, using tennisballs.
And each time I mastered a new trick I felt a rush of adrenaline..
This was awesome!!!!
I had no teacher, which made the learning process very slow, but I think that has paid off in the end.

6 months later, after much practise and reading I tried firepoi for the first time.
With towel-wicks I stood in the front yard with my dad as backup, my mum in the kitchen window.
Immediatly when I lighted up, I felt it..
The rush..
The sound..
The sensation..
FlameChild was born, and he would never go back!

Now 5 years later, he is still going strong.
I learnt myself fire-eating and breathing, and made a complete show.
I have lots of good memories, and my blood still boils when I hear the crowdsurge as I fire up.

I'm active working for recruiting new poi'ers here in Norway, pulling together a Poi In The Park now and again.
I've done classes with students, and all of my friends know what poi is. smile

My best student is Oklien, which also hangs on this forum.
Massive respect to you, mate.
He is soon getting better than me, I'm sure.
Probably kill me soon, as all students do when they surpass their master..

A little introduction of me, and what goes inside my head.
Fire is a massive thing with me..
I got the chinese symbol of fire tattooed on my left hand, and a fire-tribal designed by my loved one, Anette, in my neck.
So fire it is..
